The Gingerbread Man 1998

As the celebration at Rick Magruder’s (Kenneth Branagh) law firm comes to a close, the charismatic lawyer finds himself enjoying the fervor of a raucous party. Known for his ruthless tactics and an uncanny ability to persuade juries, Magruder basks in the spotlight while navigating through the crowd, a champagne flute raised in delight. However, as the night progresses and the drinks continue to flow, this usually composed attorney grows increasingly intoxicated, eventually stumbling outside with a carefree demeanor that masks his sharp intellect.

In this state of reckless abandon, Magruder encounters Mallory Doss (Embeth Davidtz), a waitress seemingly overwhelmed by her circumstances. Her car has mysteriously disappeared, leaving her stranded on the roadside with no means of transportation. Seizing the opportunity, Magruder offers her a ride home, leading them into a night filled with passion and uncertainty.

As dawn breaks, clarity returns as Mallory seeks Magruder’s help to file a lawsuit against her abusive father, Dixon Doss (Robert Duvall). Though he is initially reluctant, Magruder’s formidable reputation convinces him to take on the case. As he and Clyde track down Randle, their encounter culminates in a violent confrontation during a raging hurricane. Amid the chaos, Clyde becomes a victim of Randle’s treachery, forcing Magruder into a desperate fight for survival.
