Who is the main character trying to join the Carolina Pines Country Club?
When the clever rapper Christopher “C-Note” Hawkins, played by Big Boi, seeks membership at the predominantly white Carolina Pines Country Club, he quickly discovers that the club’s owners are far from accommodating. Determined to prove his worthiness, C-Note purchases a piece of land that includes the 17th green of the golf course, insisting that he will only concede the hole in exchange for a coveted membership. This bold move ignites a series of outrageous antics as C-Note, alongside his lively and street-savvy friends, wreak havoc on the club’s snooty members in a hilarious clash that blends mischief with camaraderie.
At one point, C-Note envisions shooting a music video on the golf course grounds, which prompts the club’s President, Cummings, portrayed by Jeffrey Jones, to offer him a bribe to abandon the idea. However, C-Note remains steadfast—his only desire is to gain full membership. In desperation, President Cummings recruits Shannon Williams, an uptight, Harvard-educated attorney played by Tamala Jones, to devise an underhanded strategy. Shannon’s plan is to let C-Note join the club, only to capture evidence of him breaking the club’s rules during his probationary period.
As the proceedings unfold, C-Note faces ridiculous accusations, including an alleged helicopter landing on the premises, bringing firearms onto the golf course, and reckless driving en route to play. Yet, with each claim ultimately disproven, C-Note’s resilience pays off, and he triumphantly secures his status as an official member of the Carolina Pines Country Club. The film captivates with its humor and irreverence, showcasing a vibrant battle against prejudice and snobbery within the exclusive confines of the country club.
