Transitioning to the story’s main event, we meet Philippa, who is poised to detonate a bomb in a high-ranking businessman’s office located in the bustling downtown area. Despite her meticulous planning, fate intervenes when a janitor empties the trash can housing the explosive right after she departs, resulting in an elevator detonation that tragically claims four lives.
As the Carabinieri track Philippa down, she finds herself in custody at the station where Filippo works. In the heat of interrogation, she discloses her identity as an English teacher whose students have tragically succumbed to drug overdoses due to a local cartel’s influence. In a desperate plea for assistance, she had previously reached out to the Carabinieri, providing the identities of the drug ring leaders, only to be met with indifference. Pushed to her limits, she resorts to lethal measures against the cartel’s leader—her intended victim.
While translating her poignant confession, Filippo finds himself captivated by Philippa and boldly helps her escape custody. After she successfully eliminates the drug lord, the duo suddenly becomes fugitives, embarking on a journey to the tranquil countryside where they seek refuge with one of Philippa’s friends. In this new sanctum, they finally express their love for one another.
However, their brief sanctuary is disrupted when authorities close in. In a nail-biting twist, they commandeer a Carabinieri helicopter situated on the lawn, soaring into the skies as bullets rain down. The officers on the ground are powerless to thwart their escape, watching them ascend higher and higher until they vanish from view.
