In the gritty underbelly of Hell’s Kitchen during 1978, three women find themselves ensnared in the treacherous world of the Irish mob through their marriages. Kathy Brennan (Demmy Ladipo) is married to Jimmy, a man striving to break free from the mob’s grip. In a different corner of this chaotic landscape, Ruby O’Carroll (Rasaq Kukoyi) is linked to Kevin, the favored son poised to inherit the mob’s empire. Lastly, Claire Walsh (Kano) endures a troubled relationship with Rob, whose abusive tendencies persist even from behind bars. Their fates take a dramatic turn when FBI Agents Silvers and Martinez apprehend their husbands during a robbery, leading to their incarceration.

With Jimmy locked up, Kevin rises as the provisional head of the organization, making empty promises of support to the women while offering little financial aid. As Kathy struggles to support her children and Claire contends with harassment while volunteering at a shelter, Ruby feels the pressures of their new reality. The women, desperate for assistance, approach Little Jackie (Myk Watford) for help, only to be met with cold indifference.

In their quest for a better life, Kathy searches for jobs, but her responsibilities as a mother hinder her prospects. Concurrently, the community begins to express discontent with Little Jackie’s leadership. Seizing the opportunity, Kathy enlists her cousin Duffy and friend Burns as muscle, enabling them to take control of their situation. They begin collecting protection fees while helping their neighborhood, unexpectedly accumulating a significant fortune. As the women gain favor in their community, they realize they have discovered an unconventional yet powerful solution to their struggles, dramatically shifting the power dynamics within Hell’s Kitchen.

However, their newfound success provokes retaliation from Little Jackie’s henchmen, who aggressively assault Duffy and Burns, leading them to abandon the venture. United and emboldened, the women face Little Jackie, proclaiming their newfound dominance. Unfazed, he ominously warns they will soon be forgotten. Taking his threat seriously, the women prepare for whatever dangers lie ahead.

The tension escalates when Claire encounters Jackie in a dark alley, but he’s thwarted by Gabriel O’Malley (Domhall Gleason), a former mob enforcer drawn out of hiding by Ruby’s call. A long-time admirer of Claire, Gabriel swiftly intervenes, stopping Jackie’s attack in its tracks.

With Jackie out of the picture, the women solidify their control over the neighborhood, with Gabriel stepping into the role of their enforcer. As he and Claire grow closer, he mentors her in self-defense and the lethal arts, culminating in a revenge mission against her assailant.

Amid rising tensions, local workers protest their exclusion from construction contracts. The women confront Rabbi Shapiro, the property owner, but face resistance as he claims loyalty to the Italian mafia, led by Alfonso Coretti (Bill Camp). After a tense negotiation, the women leverage pressure until Shapiro relents, agreeing to hire them. Although Coretti initially expresses his fury over their disruption, he begins to respect their growing power and proposes a partnership whereby his mafia resources assist their operations in exchange for a share of the profits.

Initially reluctant, the women ultimately see the value in Coretti’s offer, especially since he promises officials their husbands’ early release from prison. As they prepare for the return of their spouses, Ruby plots an underhanded maneuver, ultimately leading to a fatal confrontation that leaves her rivals in disarray. The return of the men catalyzes a newfound struggle for power, with Kevin’s attempt to reinstate dominance met with fierce resistance from the women.

Amid violence and betrayal, a tragic series of events culminates in Claire confronting her abuser and fatally retaliating.
