She took this advice to heart, taking acting classes upon her return to Chicago. In a mark of her dedicated ambition, Matichak graduated a year early from St. Francis High School and turned down a full-ride soccer scholarship to the University of South Florida, choosing instead to relocate to New York City to chase a career in modeling and acting. Her acting portfolio is dotted with a range of guest appearances in various television series, and in 2015, she grabbed a feature film role in Naomi and Ely's No Kiss List, albeit uncredited. Her career-defining role came when she secured a key role in the 2018 film Halloween, wherein she impressively portrayed the character of Allyson Nelson, granddaughter of Jamie Lee Curtis' character Laurie Strode.
