José Antonio Domínguez Bandera, better known as Antonio Banderas, is a highly celebrated Spanish actor. Notably, he has worked in a vast array of film genres and has received several accolades, including a Cannes Film Festival Award and a Goya Award. He has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, five Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award. Banderas made his acting debut at a small theater in his hometown of Málaga, catching the attention of director Pedro Almodóvar, who launched his film career with the 1982 screwball comedy Labyrinth of Passion.

Banderas has frequently collaborated with Almodóvar on many films, such as Matador, Law of Desire, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!, The Skin I Live In, and Pain and Glory. The latter film earned him the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor and an Academy Award nomination. In 1992, Banderas made his American film debut with the musical drama The Mambo Kings. He then starred in several major Hollywood films, including Philadelphia, Interview with the Vampire, Desperado, Evita, and Once Upon a Time in Mexico. Banderas also played roles in franchises such as Zorro, Spy Kids, and Shrek, where he voiced Puss in Boots.
