Joaquín Cosío Osuna, professionally known as Joaquín Cosío, is a renowned Mexican actor and poet born on October 6, 1962. His career spans over four decades, starting from the early 1980s, making his on-screen debut in 2001 in the film The Blue Room. Since then, Cosío has been a ubiquitous figure in over 40 feature films and television shows, earning his reputation as a versatile and compelling actor. He is most recognized for his portrayal of Rubén 'Mascarita' in Matando Cabos (2004), General Medrano in Quantum of Solace (2008), The Silver Angel in The Strain (2014–2017), and Major General Mateo Suárez in The Suicide Squad (2021). In addition to his acting prowess, Cosío's remarkable performance as Gabriel in The Thin Yellow Line in 2016 got him the Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actor. Cosío has also portrayed Ernesto Fonseca Carrillo in the popular Netflix series Narcos: Mexico (2018–2021), and he recently played the character Casimiro 'Pop' Morales in Gentefied (2020–2021). Throughout his storied career, he has worked alongside accomplished actors like Benicio del Toro in Oliver Stone's Savages, and appeared in Disney's 2013 film The Lone Ranger.
