What's After the Movie
**Liam Cunningham** (born 2 June 1961) is an esteemed Irish actor. He grew up in Kilmore West, Dublin with his three sisters and a brother. Leaving secondary school at 15, he initially pursued a career as an electrician and lived in Zimbabwe for three years during the 1980s. However, after returning to Ireland, Cunningham decided to follow his passion for acting. He began by attending acting classes and performing in local theatre, including the Royal Shakespeare Company, which led to his on-screen debut in 1992. Known for playing Davos Seaworth in the HBO epic-fantasy series Game of Thrones, he's been active in the acting industry since 1992. He quickly built a reputation for his gripping performances and has starred in numerous films such as A Little Princess (1995), Dog Soldiers (2002), Hunger (2008), and more. In 2020, Cunningham was listed at number 36 on The Irish Times list of Ireland's greatest film actors. In addition to his cinematic work, Cunningham also established a notable television career. He played President Richard Tate in the BBC programme Outcasts, and was chosen to portray the Eighth Doctor in the TV movie of Doctor Who (1996). He later gained international acclaim through his role as former smuggler Davos Seaworth in HBO's Game of Thrones starting in 2012. Moreover, Cunningham used his distinctive voice talent in the Netflix animated series Masters of the Universe: Revelation. He uses his platform beyond acting as well: he is politically engaged, having endorsed Solidarity–People Before Profit in the 2020 Irish general election and publicly supporting a cultural boycott of Israel in 2015.
