Mackenzie Rio Davis, born April 1, 1987, is a Canadian actress. Her journey in acting started with her feature film debut in the drama film Smashed in 2012. A year later, her performance in the film The F Word earned her a nomination for the Canadian Screen Award for Best Supporting Actress. Davis gained significant recognition from 2014 to 2017 for her role as computer programmer Cameron Howe in the AMC period drama series Halt and Catch Fire. In 2016, she starred in the highly acclaimed Black Mirror episode 'San Junipero'. Her filmography includes notable films like The Martian (2015), Blade Runner 2049 (2017), and the comedy-drama film Tully (2018) where she played the title character. In 2019, Davis played the role of an augmented super-soldier in Terminator: Dark Fate and in 2020, she co-starred in the comedy film Happiest Season. In 2021, she had a lead role in the miniseries Station Eleven, earning her a Critics' Choice Super Award. Davis was born in Vancouver, British Columbia to Lotte, a graphic designer, and John Davis, a hairdresser. She graduated from Collingwood School in West Vancouver in 2005 and earned a degree from McGill University in Montreal, Quebec before studying acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse in New York City. Davis' career highlights also include her portrayal of NASA satellite communications engineer Mindy Park in The Martian, her Emmy-winning role in Black Mirror, and her part in the science-fiction comedy Alpha Gang.
