Martin John Christopher Freeman, born 8 September 1971, is an acclaimed English actor known for his range of roles in television, film and theater. Freeman's career has been decorated with various accolades, including two Emmy Awards, a BAFTA Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award. Over the years, he has played significant roles in numerous productions. He gained fame for his role as Tim Canterbury in the mockumentary series 'The Office' (2001–2003). He subsequently portrayed characters such as Dr. John Watson in the British crime drama series 'Sherlock' (2010–2017) and young Bilbo Baggins in 'The Hobbit' film trilogy (2012–2014). He also starred in the first season of the dark comedy-crime drama series 'Fargo' (2014) and has been a part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Everett K. Ross since 2016.

Freeman received his education at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.
