Melonie Diaz (born April 25, 1984) is an American actress celebrated for her numerous appearances in independent films, with four of these films aired at the notable 2008 Sundance Film Festival. She gained prominence with her performative prowess in the films A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) and Fruitvale Station (2013), which led to her nominations for Independent Spirit Awards. Between 2018 and 2022, she was cast as Mel Vera in the rebooted television series Charmed on The CW.

Born and raised in New York City, Diaz comes from a family of Puerto Rican descent. She cultivated her interest in acting at the Henry Street Settlement before attending the Professional Performing Arts School in Manhattan. Later, she pursued a degree in Film Production from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. Diaz began her film career in 2001 with a supporting role in Tom DiCillo's Double Whammy and steadily gained fame with her roles in numerous films and TV series. She earned acclaim for her roles as Blanca in Lords of Dogtown (2005) and Laurie in A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006). Over the years, Diaz has demonstrated her unique acting abilities in a mix of independent and big-budget films, shining brightly in movies like Fruitvale Station (2013). Among her future plans, she has expressed a desire to return to Tisch to broaden her knowledge in filmmaking, with renowned director Kathryn Bigelow serving as her muse.
