Ryan Phillippe

**Matthew Ryan Phillippe**, better known as **Ryan Phillippe** is an American actor who first appeared in the soap opera *One Life to Live* between 1992-1993. He made his feature film debut in *Crimson Tide* (1995) and gained prominence in the late 1990s with starring roles in *I Know What You Did Last Summer* (1997), *54* (1998), *Playing by Heart* (1998), and *Cruel Intentions* (1999). Phillippe's acting versatility was displayed in a range of films through the 2000s and beyond, including *Antitrust* (2001), *Gosford Park* (2001), *The I Inside* (2003), *Flags of Our Fathers* (2006), and *Stop-Loss* (2008). In addition to a successful film career, Phillipe was in the lead role of Bob Lee Swagger on USA Network's *Shooter* (2016–2018). His early career started strong after being signed to Cathy Parker Management, leading to notable roles in movies and television series. Phillippe starred in the modern retelling of the Choderlos de Laclos novel **Les Liaisons dangereuses** as part of *Cruel Intentions*, alongside his future wife, Reese Witherspoon. His performance in *Flags of Our Fathers* (2006) directed by Clint Eastwood was lauded for his compelling portrayal of a real-life Navy corpsman. Phillipe's career took a comedic turn when he starred as Lt. Dixon Piper in *MacGruber*, a film based on a Saturday Night Live skit. His other significant roles are as Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Greg Marinovich in *The Bang-Bang Club* and Louis Roulet in *The Lincoln Lawyer*. Starting in 2012, Phillippe focused on directing and producing, co-producing, starring, and co-writing his directorial debut **Catch Hell**. He remains active in film and television, with recent roles in *Big Sky* (2020) and *One Shot* (2021)
