Sid Haig

Sidney Eddie Mosesian, professionally known as **Sid Haig**, was a prolific American actor born on July 14, 1939, in Fresno, California. His career spanned almost six decades, from 1960 to 2019, predominantly in horror films. He is most renowned for his character **Captain Spaulding** in the Rob Zombie films _House of 1000 Corpses_, _The Devil's Rejects_, and _3 from Hell_. His portrayal of the psychotic clown Captain Spaulding and him personally have been hailed as icons of horror cinema. Haig's illustrious career also included a leading role in the television series _Jason of Star Command_ and appearances in numerous TV programs, including _The Untouchables_, _Batman_, _Gunsmoke_, _Mission: Impossible_, and _Star Trek_. Haig also appeared in many of Jack Hill's blaxploitation films in the 1970s. Haig was born to Armenian parents, his father was an electrician. He took up dancing at a young age to improve his motor coordination due to rapid growth. As a teenager, he had a successful music career before turning to acting. He was encouraged to pursue an acting career by Alice Merrill, head of the drama department at his school. He later attended the Pasadena Playhouse and moved to Hollywood. Haig's debut was in a 1960 student film titled _The Host_, directed by Jack Hill at UCLA. His role in Rob Zombie's debut film _House of 1000 Corpses_ revived his acting career, earning him recognition, awards, and a place in Fangoria's Horror Hall of Fame. Haig posthumously appeared in the 2020 slasher film _Hanukkah_ and the 2023 film _Abruptio_. He married Susan L. Oberg in 2007 and passed away on September 21, 2019.
