**William Edward Fichtner**, born on November 27, 1956, is an American actor with a career spanning over 30 years and is recognized for performances in a dazzling number of films. He was born at Mitchel Air Force Base in New York, and began his career with supporting appearances in *Virtuosity* (1994), *Heat* and *Strange Days* (both, 1995). His acting portfolio is impressive, with memorable roles in shows including *Invasion* where he starred as Sheriff Tom Underlay, *Prison Break* as Alexander Mahone, and *Mom* as Adam Janikowski. Fichtner kick-started his acting career playing Rod Landry in *As the World Turns* in 1987, and had since appeared in various famous films like *Contact*, *Black Hawk Down*, *Crash*, and *The Dark Knight*. His outstanding performance in *Crash* won him a Screen Actors Guild Award and a Best Acting Ensemble award from Broadcast Film Critics Choice.
