What's After the Movie

Quentin Tarantino

Quentin Jerome Tarantino is an American filmmaker, actor, and author. Born on March 27, 1963 in Knoxville, Tennessee, Tarantino gained fame for his movies characterized by stylized violence, extended dialogue filled with much profanity, and references to popular culture. His films have built up a cult following, achieved critical and commercial success, and earned him numerous awards. For instance, he has received two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, and four Golden Globe Awards. Tarantino's filmography is diverse, ranging from the crime drama Reservoir Dogs to the spaghetti western Django Unchained. His respect for the classical 'auteur theory' of cinema can be seen in his meticulous hands-on approach to film production, characterized by comprehensive attention to detail. Tarantino's latest work, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, set in the late 1960s, deals with the transition from old to new Hollywood. He has announced plans for it to be his last film before retirement. A hallmark of all his movies, Tarantino once noted, is that they compel the viewer to laugh at scenes that are not inherently funny, affirming his commitment to crafting 'dramas', and not 'comedies'.
