Plot Summary

Sadie is a determined vigilante, dedicated to assisting women and children escape abusive situations. Despite grappling with financial struggles, she relies on whatever support those she aids can offer while trying to cash in on a life insurance policy for her husband, who has mysteriously vanished. Living in a motel room, she has created a map on the wall that details her relentless search for him.

After preparing herself with a disguise consisting of latex makeup, contact lenses, and a wig, Sadie gains entry into the home of Andrea Shaund and Michael Shaund, under the pretense of conducting a health insurance assessment. Utilizing her martial arts skills, she quickly overpowers Michael, compelling him to transfer ownership of his house and a significant portion of his assets to Andrea, and warns him to stay away from her and the family, threatening dire consequences if he does not comply. To empower others, she gives Andrea her contact information for anyone who may need help.

Sadie goes on to rescue a young woman from her abusive partner, defends herself against a trio of assailants outside a bar, and liberates a young boy and his infant brother who have been neglected by their drug-addicted mother. She reassures the boy, informing him that help from the police and social services will be on the way but admits that she cannot take them with her as they wouldn’t be safe. Nevertheless, she gives him her phone number for future assistance.

In a poignant flashback during a therapy session, Sadie reveals the harrowing details of her past. Her husband—a violent and erratic survivalist—attempted to force her and their son, Cody, to abandon their home and live off the grid. When Sadie tried to flee with Cody, her husband pursued them, inflicting severe harm on her before fatally stabbing their son in a fit of rage. Following the tragedy, Sadie sought refuge in a domestic violence shelter, where she discovered a book on Krav Maga that inspired her to train for self-defense. Upon revisiting their old home, she found a drawing by Cody, marked with the letter “C,” and left a note for her therapy leader expressing her willingness to assist other women in precarious situations.

Sadie’s journey is not without danger; she faces the looming threat of her sadistic husband, who finds and attacks her in her motel room, rendering her unconscious. When she comes to, she is bound to a chair in a remote cabin, where her husband cruelly welcomes her “home” and destroys Cody’s cherished drawing. In a desperate bid for freedom, Sadie manages to break loose, and a brutal confrontation ensues when he returns. In a powerful moment, she confronts him with the reality of his actions, accusing him of killing their son because he couldn’t bear to face his true self. In a final act of defiance, Sadie kills him and discards his body by the roadside.

Visiting her attorney afterward, she learns that police found her husband’s remains but no trace of the murderer, mainly due to his felon status, which complicates their investigation. With the discovery of the body, her life insurance claim is set to be approved. As Sadie leaves, she sets out to aid yet another woman who has reached out for her help, continuing her mission to support those in need.
