As the specter of his troubled past continues to haunt him, Cliff (character) - once embroiled in a scandalous affair with the CEO's wife and accused of embezzlement - finds himself on shaky ground after rumors of his involvement resurface. The fallout from his alleged wrongdoings ultimately led to the CEO's tragic demise, for which he took the fall. Now, Cliff's job as a traveling salesman of defibrillators is gone, and he's unable to find steady employment elsewhere.

In a desperate bid to turn his fortunes around, Cliff accepts an offer from his old colleague Ricky to reinvent himself as a drug- and gun-runner under his trusted salesman persona for a local gang. As Cliff embarks on his first run with a shipment of illicit goods, Ricky betrays both the gang and their intended recipients by pilfering the entire haul.

Convinced that Ricky intends to frame him for the heist and have him eliminated, Cliff alerts the gang's boss to their location, effectively turning the tables. During their tense conversations, it becomes clear that Cliff was instrumental in convincing his former CEO to engage in shady dealings, ultimately contributing to the man's downfall. As Ricky attempts to peddle the stolen goods on the black market, the gang shows up at the scene, and a brutal shootout ensues.

In the aftermath of the chaos, only Cliff and Ricky are left standing. With a heavy dose of poetic justice, Cliff brings down his former partner in crime, leaving behind a substantial portion of the ill-gotten gains for the CEO's widow, with whom he had a torrid affair. Later, at a local church service with his wife by his side, Cliff makes a generous donation to charity.

The film concludes with a telling moment: a photocopy of Cliff's driver's license, captured by the gang's boss as security, lies exposed and vulnerable for the authorities to discover, serving as a stark reminder of Cliff's troubled past and present.
