Dr. Parker, a wealthy dermatologist played by Sharon Stone, confides in her patient Murray, portrayed by Woody Allen, about her desire to engage in a ménage à trois with a friend named Selima, played by Sofía Vergara. Seeking to fulfill this adventurous request, Murray persuades his friend Fioravante, embodied by John Turturro, to step into this role, as both men face financial difficulties due to Murray’s failed used bookstore.

As their escapade begins, Murray takes on the role of a pimp, leading to a flourishing gigolo enterprise. Living with Othella and her children, Murray must also handle parenting challenges, one of which includes dealing with a case of head lice. To remedy this, he seeks help from Avigal, played by Vanessa Paradis, a lovely widow of a Hasidic rabbi.

Murray shares Fioravante’s supposed talents as a massage therapist with Avigal, enabling her to experience a long-overdue touch when she allows Fioravante to massage her back. This moment, the first of its kind since her husband’s death two years prior, moves her deeply. Meanwhile, Dovi, characteristically played by Liev Schreiber, who patrols the neighborhood for Shomrim, starts to grow suspicious of Murray’s activities while harboring feelings for Avigal, whom he finds unresponsive.

Fioravante and Avigal’s connection deepens, leading to several secret meetings, which culminate in a heartfelt kiss in the park. However, when Fioravante is called upon to fulfill the previously planned ménage à trois with the two women, he finds himself unable to go through with it, realizing he has fallen in love with Avigal.

Complications arise when a group of Hasidic men kidnaps Murray, taking him to a Rabbinic Court for questioning. Avigal courageously interrupts the proceedings, confessing her vulnerability and a breach of modesty, admitting that she felt lonely. By the story’s end, Avigal embraces her affection for Dovi, requesting him to take her to Fioravante for a farewell. As Fioravante contemplates leaving, a chance encounter with another captivating woman in a café makes him reconsider his decision.
