Who are the main characters in 'Hey Sinamika'?
Yaalan, portrayed by Dulquer Salmaan, and Mouna, played by Aditi Rao Hydari, fall deeply in love and decide to marry. Mouna, who studies storm wind patterns, finds herself in a whirlwind of emotions as her husband Yaalan, a curious and talkative software engineer, becomes increasingly overwhelming. After two years of this affectionate but incessantly chatty life, Mouna feels the need to reclaim her independence. She pleads with her boss Kaundhi to assign her a project in Pondicherry, desperate to escape Yaalan for a year.
At work, Mouna confides in her colleague Ram, who has recently gone through a divorce and is surprisingly upbeat about it. With his encouragement, Mouna plots her separation, labeling Yaalan’s talkativeness as unbearable and his passion for cooking as a cause for her weight gain. Even when she attempts to numb Yaalan’s tongue to silence him, he still manages to mumble incessantly, infuriating her further. Despite her attempts to coax jealousy out of him by pretending to flirt with another man, Yaalan quickly figures out her ruse, realizing it’s Ram on the other end.
As Mouna heads to Pondicherry, she plans to start anew but is perplexed when Yaalan suddenly appears at the guest house, determined to stay with her throughout the year. With the support of her friends RJ Divya and RJ Shiva, Mouna admits her feeling of suffocation in their relationship. The situation worsens when a lie about attending a wedding leaves Yaalan unwittingly causing a commotion at the event when he confronts the catering staff over food quality.
Complicating matters, Mouna meets Dr. Kajal Malarvizhi, played by Kajal Aggarwal, a psychiatrist known for helping couples untangle their relationships. Desperate, Mouna concocts a scheme to have Yaalan fall for Malarvizhi as a means to finalize her divorce. Things take an unexpected turn when Mouna helps Yaalan launch a promising career as a radio jockey, unaware that she’s secretly financing his salary through Divya’s station. As Yaalan’s popularity grows, he bonds with Malarvizhi over shared interests in poetry, igniting unexpected feelings.
However, when Yaalan discovers Mouna’s ulterior motives for moving to Pondicherry, he decides to pursue an opportunity in Chennai where he bravely unmasks a local con artist. Meanwhile, Mouna panics at the thought of losing Yaalan and devises a plan to sabotage his budding relationship with Malarvizhi.
As the emotional turmoil escalates, Yaalan grapples with Mouna’s manipulations and ultimately starts divorce proceedings, leaving Mouna heartbroken. Malarvizhi, initially thrilled by Yaalan’s newfound attention, is devastated to learn of the truth behind their connections. After a heart-wrenching moment where Mouna realizes the consequences of her actions, time apart may lead to clarity.
In a twist of fate, six months later, Mouna and Yaalan meet at the family court. While Yaalan initially dismisses her, he reveals a moment of nostalgia that highlights their deep connection. In a moment of vulnerability, Mouna chases after him, pleading for forgiveness and rekindling their love. Meanwhile, Malarvizhi embraces her newfound purpose, dedicating herself to repairing fractured relationships in her career as a radio jockey.
