As Sara (Allison Williams) savored her drink at the island bar, the soothing sounds of the waves caressing the shore amplified her eagerness for a tranquil evening. Her boyfriend’s plea for just one more round felt like a small concession for the peace she sought. Unbeknownst to her, the next moment they would share would plunge them into a whirlwind of chaos and uncertainty.

Fast forward a year, and Sara found herself navigating the lively streets of London, hailing a cab bound for a friend’s wedding in Mauritius. The allure of the tropical paradise was enticing, yet she had no inkling that her unexpected encounter with her ex-boyfriend Jackson (Alexander Dreymon) was merely the precursor to a challenging adventure that lay ahead.

Upon her arrival on the island, Sara was engulfed in the vibrant atmosphere of pre-wedding festivities, but the joy was short-lived. A missed boat resulted in a frantic quest for alternate transportation, culminating in her climbing aboard a small plane piloted by her friend Freddy Wyman (Keith David). What she didn’t foresee was that this spontaneous journey would ignite a relentless odyssey, pushing her resilience to its limits.

As the plane ascended into the skies, Sara’s surprise morphed into distress when she learned that Jackson had also secured a seat on the same flight. The tension thickened as Freddy invited her to take the co-pilot’s seat, while Jackson rested in the back. However, their serene flight was abruptly shattered when Freddy suffered a heart attack, sending the plane spiraling towards the earth.

With quick thinking, Sara and Jackson managed to regain control, but their situation deteriorated as the autopilot failed and fuel dwindled. In a state of desperation, they turned to Samuel (Jumayn Hunter), a local air traffic controller who guided them through the perilous skies via shortwave radio. Yet, they first needed to brave a violent storm that threatened to send their aircraft crashing into oblivion.

As the turbulence eased but left their compass in ruins, Sara and Jackson confronted the harrowing reality of their rapidly depleting fuel. In a courageous act, Jackson climbed out onto the wing to repair a damaged fuel line, only to suffer a grievous injury—a badly broken arm.

In a bid to save fuel, they faced the heart-wrenching decision to lighten their load, which included the lifeless body of their dear friend Freddy. With each passing moment, Sara’s ingenuity shone through as she spotted rum bottles that could potentially serve as makeshift fuel. Determined to solve their fuel crisis, she ventured into the storm, risking everything amidst the encroaching darkness.

As Jackson struggled to fix the fractured fuel line, he suffered a terrible fall, leaving him precariously dangling above the wreckage. Thanks to Sara’s quick reflexes, he was pulled back to safety just in time. However, she now faced an even more daunting task—venturing out onto the wing to pour Solomon’s potent “rocket fuel” into the engine, hoping for a brief moment of reprieve. Their attempts to contact Samuel over the radio met with silence, heightening their sense of impending doom.

Spotting a small, secluded island, they desperately aimed to glide their crippled plane toward the shore. The crash was unavoidable; their aircraft descended violently into the sea, shattering against the water. Utilizing every ounce of her strength, Sara fought to free Jackson, who had become ensnared on the submerged wing, leading them both to struggle ashore on a barren island.

As their weary bodies collapsed onto the unforgiving sand, relief turned to despair as they recognized it was a temporary sandbar, destined to be consumed by rising tides. With the island disappearing beneath the waves, they clung to life, yet in the face of their demise, Jackson offered his life jacket to Sara, insisting on her survival. She adamantly refused, vowing that they would weather the storm together as a team. In that moment of vulnerability, Jackson confessed his profound love for Sara, just as their existential fears melted away with the unexpected arrival of a fishing vessel, responding to their desperate radio calls, carrying the hope of rescue and salvation.
