Who has usurped power in Oz?
In the enchanting land of Oz, a sinister alliance has emerged among the Scarecrow, Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, who jointly lead the Emerald City. They have uncovered a malicious scheme orchestrated by a deceitful Jester who has seized power after stealing the broomstick of his deceased sister, the Wicked Witch of the West. This sly maneuver has enabled him to control the Flying Monkeys, putting the very fabric of Oz at risk. In a desperate attempt to regain control, the Scarecrow turns to his brilliant creation, the Rainbow Mover, in hopes of summoning Dorothy Gale once more to seek her aid. However, their plans are swiftly disrupted when an onslaught of flying monkeys compels the trio to make a hasty escape through castle windows.
Meanwhile, back in Kansas, Dorothy’s family farm has been left in ruins following a devastating tornado, casting a shadow over the once-vibrant landscape. A dubious figure, posing as a government appraiser, arrives to condemn their home while delivering an eviction notice to the Gales. As Dorothy surveys the wreckage of her beloved town, she realizes that her neighbors are facing similar threats, plunging their community into despair and uncertainty.
In an unexpected turn of events, Dorothy and her faithful dog, Toto, stumble upon a magical rainbow that whisks them away to Oz. However, rather than landing in the Emerald City, they find themselves in the whimsical Candy Country, where everything, including its inhabitants, is made of candy. Their arrival incites a frenzy, as Marshal Mallow detains them for violating the “no eating anything made of candy” rule, which has been manipulated by the malevolent Jester. Upon revealing her identity, Dorothy is acquitted of the charges, and she meets Wiser, a sagacious but portly owl who joins their adventure.
As they make their way toward the Emerald City, Mallow accompanies them on his quest to locate the missing General Candy Apple. Meanwhile, Glinda confronts the Jester, who has exploited the powers of a magical scepter forged from his sister’s broomstick and crystal ball to ensnare the leaders of Oz, including General Candy Apple, turning them into mere puppets at his whim. Tragically, Glinda too falls under this dark enchantment, granting the Jester complete control over the realm.
As they traverse through the Dainty China Country, Dorothy and her companions seek permission from the vain China Princess to pass through her domain. Mallow feigns being a suitor to gain entry to her castle, where she dismisses all potential suitors—until Mallow’s enchanting serenade captivates her. Unfortunately, the Jester’s meddling causes a catastrophic earthquake that devastates the region. Enraged by the turmoil, the China Princess accuses Dorothy of causing the destruction and insists that they must pay a toll for passage. In response, they reluctantly agree to guide her on their journey, asking in return that she accompany them.
Upon realizing that the bridge to the Emerald City has been destroyed, the group resolves to construct a makeshift vessel. Despite their efforts, the talking trees refuse to offer assistance, save for an elderly giant named Tugg who transforms into a majestic ship. They embark on their journey across the desolate streets, only to be ambushed by the clever Flying Monkeys. In a bid to escape, they dash into a complex network of caves, where their flight is abruptly halted by a perilous waterfall.
Meanwhile, grief-stricken by the China Princess’s presumed death, Dorothy resolves to confront the Jester alone at his palace. Mallow mourns her fate but soon discovers her miraculous recovery, which boosts his confidence. Inspired, Wiser ascends into the sky to aid Dorothy in her quest. In a tense showdown with the Jester, Dorothy and Toto uncover his nefarious plan for their demise—only for Toto to inadvertently thwart his schemes by inadvertently dropping a curtain. The lead Flying Monkey, known as “You,” swoops in to seize the Jester’s staff, which had previously diminished his wings. In the ensuing chaos, Dorothy reunites with her captive friends, and they launch a counteroffensive against the aerial threat. During the fray, Dorothy loses her footing and falls from the rooftop but is miraculously saved mid-air by Wiser’s timely intervention.
As the remaining companions arrive on the scene, pulling along Tugg’s makeshift chariot, they engage in an all-out aerial confrontation with the Flying Monkeys. The Jester, desperate to eliminate Dorothy, conjures a tornado, but her inherent magic disrupts his spell and inadvertently liberates Oz’s leaders from their bonds. Just as the Jester appears on the verge of being engulfed by the vortex, Dorothy selflessly rescues him—only for him to seize the moment and disappear with his staff. Glinda steps in, using her powers to return Dorothy and Toto home.
Upon her arrival back in Kansas, Dorothy is joyously reunited with Aunt Em and Uncle Henry. Together, they rally their fellow townsfolk to confront those trying to exploit their community. In a surprising revelation, they expose the appraiser as a fraud using a variety of fake licenses for illicit activities. The sheriff intervenes just in time, apprehending the con artist while his henchman hastily retreats, leaving Dorothy and her community to rebuild their homes and hope for a brighter future.
