The narrative unfolds in the distant future of 2707, set in a world reminiscent of the Mutant Chronicles role-playing game, where steam-powered technologies dominate amidst the devastation of Earth’s natural resources. The story follows brave protagonists who are thrust into a fierce battle against mutated beings unleashed by a mysterious entity.

At the center of this chaotic universe lies a “machine,” an ancient artifact that originated from space 10,000 years ago. This machine has the sinister ability to transform humans into mindless killing machines known as “mutants,” who then capture new victims to feed its insatiable hunger. Once sealed away by ancient tribes, the machine is inadvertently excavated during a brutal conflict between two of the four ruling corporations: Capitol and Bauhaus. The other two corporations, Mishima and Imperial, only add to the tensions of this tumultuous time.

Within a mere six weeks, the world is nearly overrun by these savage mutant gangs. While some of the population manages to escape to Mars, millions remain trapped on the dying planet. A desperate team of soldiers is assembled on a heroic mission to transport an ancient device to the machine’s core in hopes of obliterating it, although this endeavor carries the grim label of a suicide mission. To incentivize them, their loved ones are promised coveted tickets to Mars upon their success.

The team’s journey is fraught with peril as their spaceship is shot down by a kamikaze aircraft piloted by a mutant. Forced to navigate treacherous tunnels, they engage fiercely with the mutants, all while striving to reach the machine and save the remnants of humanity. Tragically, many fall, including Mitch, who undergoes a partial transformation into a mutant, and Brother Samuel, who is completely altered. Despite his transformation, Mitch manages to stave off full mutation, but is left with no choice but to take Brother Samuel’s life.

As the last survivor, Mitch bravely activates the ancient device. Rather than destroying the machine, it launches into the cosmos, revealing its true identity as a component of a spacecraft. In a poignant moment, the dying Brother Samuel implores him to “have faith.” As the rocket ascends, Mitch leaps from it, plunging into an underground lake.

Emerging onto solid ground, he witnesses the rocket venture into the vast expanse of the sky, a revelation dawning upon him that he is the prophesied savior of mankind, despite his lack of belief in a deity. Mortally wounded and part-mutated, he struggles to light a last, twisted cigarette, leaving viewers with the haunting image of the spacecraft heading towards the Red Planet as his final plan unfolds.
