As Nick Di Angelo (Rob Lowe) traverses the lively environment of a Las Vegas casino, he has one clear goal in his sights: to secure a ticket that will take him to Oxford, England, where Lady Victoria Wingate awaits. Believing that the key to winning her affection is by joining the prestigious university’s rowing team, he channels every ounce of his energy into gathering the funds needed for this ambitious endeavor. After an intriguing evening with an alluring older woman becomes a turning point in his financial situation, Nick soon finds himself cruising the picturesque British countryside in his vibrant cherry-red 1955 Ford Thunderbird. However, this joyride takes an unexpected turn when his car becomes lodged between two ancient walls on a charming Oxford street, signaling the start of a challenging journey.

Upon gaining acceptance into Oriel College, a notable constituent of the University of Oxford, Nick eagerly immerses himself in both his academic and athletic pursuits. It is during this time that he encounters Rona (Ally Sheedy), the no-nonsense coxswain of his rowing team, who quickly becomes a confidante. However, his rekindled romance with Lady Victoria is abruptly complicated when he learns that she has thrown herself into a passionate affair with Colin Gilchrist Fisher (actor name), a charismatic member of Christ Church.

Throughout an array of challenges, Nick learns life-altering lessons about the importance of friendship, love, and loyalty—not only towards others but also towards himself. As he navigates the intricate and often perilous waters of Oxford’s collegiate life, he comes to understand the significance of keeping promises made to his teammates and loved ones. Ultimately, Nick discovers that genuine fulfillment comes from looking beyond his own desires and embracing the bonds he forges along the way.
