What is Nick Di Angelo's primary motivation for traveling to Oxford?

Plot Summary

As Nick Di Angelo (actor name) navigates the vibrant landscape of a Las Vegas casino, his sights are set on securing a ticket out of town - not just any destination, but Oxford, England, where Lady Victoria Wingate awaits. Convinced that the only route to winning her heart lies in joining the esteemed University’s rowing team, he pours his energy into accumulating the necessary funds. A night spent with an enigmatic older beauty proves to be the catalyst for his financial fortunes, and before long, Di Angelo is cruising through the British countryside in his cherry-red 1955 Ford Thunderbird - that is, until it gets wedged between two ancient walls on a quaint Oxford street, marking the beginning of his trials by fire.

Accepted into Oriel College, a constituent college of the University of Oxford, Di Angelo throws himself into the world of academia and athletics, soon discovering a kindred spirit in Rona, the no-nonsense coxswain of his new rowing team. As he becomes reacquainted with Lady Victoria, he’s met with an unwelcome surprise: she’s ensconced herself in a whirlwind romance with Colin Gilchrist Fisher (actor name), a dashing member of Christ Church.

Through a series of trials and tribulations, Di Angelo comes to grasp the profound value of friendship, love, and loyalty - not just towards others, but also towards himself. As he navigates the treacherous waters of Oxford’s collegiate world, he learns to prioritize promises made to teammates and loved ones alike, ultimately discovering that true fulfillment lies in looking beyond one’s own interests.
