During the exciting opening credits, news reports of UFO sightings from across the globe flash across the screen, setting the tone for an otherworldly adventure. In the bustling city of Las Vegas, we meet Jack Bruno, played by Dwayne Johnson, a cab driver navigating his way through passengers headed to a UFO convention at the Planet Hollywood Casino and Hotel. Among his passengers is Dr. Alex Friedman, portrayed by Carla Gugino, a once-promising scientist now struggling to share her legitimate theories about UFOs and the mysteries of outer space.

The following day, Jack encounters two imposing men who deliver a message; a certain Wolff wishes to see him. After a confrontation, Jack escapes, only to find two mysterious children, Sara and Seth, in his back seat. These children, played by AnnaSophia Robb and Alexander Ludwig, introduce themselves and reveal that they will pay all they have—an astonishing $15,000—to reach a specific destination. What follows is a thrilling chase involving aggressive pursuers in massive black SUVs, who Jack mistakenly believes are associated with Wolff. However, the truth is far more extraordinary. With Jack’s driving skills and the children’s remarkable abilities, they evade their relentless hunters, who desperately want to uncover Jack’s true identity.

Their chaotic journey leads them to an old, isolated house. As they arrive, the children assure Jack that they will soon be reunited with their relatives. Yet, a crash from within the house unsettles Jack, and to his shock, he discovers the kids hiding behind a couch. Although they express gratitude for his concern, they emphasize the need to continue their journey alone, as trust is a luxury they cannot afford. Undeterred, Jack opts to follow them into the basement, where the trio has to flee from a bizarre creature while retrieving a vital object.

As they attempt to leave, they confront a menacing entity known as a “Siphon,” engineered to eliminate its targets. The ensuing confrontation results in a dramatic spaceship crash that leaves the creature injured but still dangerous. Eventually, Jack, Sara, and Seth find respite in a small town, where the children reveal their true identities as aliens from a distant planet facing calamity. Their desperate escape to Earth was orchestrated by loving parents who feared for their children’s lives amid an impending invasion. The object they retrieved contains crucial research from an experiment intended to save their planet, and they seek to thwart their military’s plan for an Earth invasion.

As government agents close in on them to capture the children for further experiments, Sara inquires about Dr. Friedman’s role. In a burst of insight thanks to the kids’ incredible mind-reading capabilities, Jack remembers Dr. Friedman from the UFO convention and persuades her to join their cause. With her assistance, they bring in Dr. Harlan, a quirky conspiracy theorist played by Garry Marshall, to help navigate the chaos.

When the Siphon arrives at the convention, a riveting showdown ensues where Sara uses her powers to propel the creature through a wall. The pursuit intensifies, leading to the capture of the group by Major Henry Burke, who insists on eliminating Sara and Seth. Luckily, Jack and Dr. Friedman manage an escape to save the children, and amidst the chaos, the Siphon attacks the base, creating the perfect diversion.

In a thrilling climax, Jack and Seth confront the Siphon aboard their ship, unmasking the creature during a fierce battle. In a heroic moment, Jack manages to defeat the alien and ejects him into space, securing the safety of the children. The fate of Major Burke remains ambiguous, as his disappointment at the failed mission hangs in the air during a phone conversation with his superior.

As the adventure concludes, the children gift Jack and Alex a magical device, enabling them to stay connected. In a heartwarming finale, they drop Jack and Alex off, sharing emotional farewells before returning to their ship. During the credits, Jack and Dr. Friedman appear together at the UFO convention, discussing their newfound book, “Race to Witch Mountain.” The final scene unveils them driving off in a Ford Mustang, reminiscent of classic cinema, as the children’s device activates, hinting that their extraordinary adventure might not be over just yet.
