What is Shiva's profession at the beginning of the movie?
Shiva, played by Akshay Kumar, is a petty thief based in Mumbai who unexpectedly finds love with Paro, portrayed by Sonakshi Sinha, a woman visiting from Patna to attend a wedding. As Shiva manages to win Paro’s heart, she reciprocates his feelings. However, he reveals his criminal past and vows to abandon his life of crime. Before that, he plans one last heist alongside his accomplice 2G (Paresh Ganatra), aiming to swindle a woman at a railway station, which leads to a twist of fate when he ends up with a trunk belonging to her.
Instead of the fortune he anticipated, he discovers a girl named Chinki (Ananya Nayak) hidden inside, who mistakenly believes him to be her father. Astonished by this unexpected development, Shiva finds himself compelled to care for Chinki, especially when a police officer, played by Yashpal Sharma, catches him with the trunk, as Chinki insists on calling him “Dad.” Paro, hurt and furious upon finding out about Chinki, decides to return to Patna, leaving Shiva devastated.
Things take a darker turn when dangerous goons, mistaking Shiva for ASP Vikram Rathore (also played by Akshay Kumar), Chinki’s real father, come after him. Their resemblance triggers a web of confusion that brings danger to Shiva’s doorstep. Rathore is in hiding from ruthless killers, suffering from a mental condition that causes him to lose consciousness sporadically, needing water doused on his head to regain his senses.
As events unfold, Shiva is pursued by the goons but finds unexpected help from the police officer and the woman he deceived earlier. However, he is soon overwhelmed. Just then, Rathore emerges, battling the goons and saving Shiva but ultimately succumbs to injuries. The police, realizing the grave situation, explain to Shiva about Rathore’s struggle against the corrupt Baapji (Nassar) in the village of Devgarh, where the ASP had been fighting against Baapji’s exploits, including the assault on a police officer’s wife by Baapji’s son, Munna.
In a grim series of events, Rathore suffers a near-fatal attack and is believed dead, but he survives with lingering effects from his injury. Following this turmoil, Shiva decides to adopt Chinki, keeping her unaware of her father’s fate. Disguising himself as ASP Vikram Rathore, Shiva returns to Devgarh, intent on seeking vengeance against Baapji.
With 2G revealing the truth to Paro, she finds the strength to forgive Shiva. Employing cunning tactics befitting a thief, Shiva pretends to plan a heist against Baapji, who rallies his private army in a fit of rage. Ultimately, Shiva orchestrates the destruction of Baapji’s illegal operations, leading the villagers in a revolt against the tyranny they suffered. The confrontation culminates in a fierce battle where Shiva single-handedly defeats Baapji’s men and, in a dramatic showdown, eliminates both Baapji and Titla (Supreeth Reddy).
In the aftermath, Shiva weds Paro, and the three of them—Shiva, Chinki, and 2G—embark on a new journey, leaving their tumultuous past behind.
