In 1993, Encino became the backdrop for a harrowing event as Skye Willow, the drummer of the heavy metal outfit Dream Widow, found herself in a perilous situation, lying on the floor with her leg shattered beyond recognition. Her frontman, Greg Nole, stood ominously above her, a hammer clutched in his hands—the instrument that would soon unleash a torrent of grisly violence upon her motionless form. As the catastrophic scene played out, Skye caught sight of the mangled remains of another band member, whose jaw had been gruesomely shattered by Greg’s ruthless aggression. The chilling sounds of steel meeting bone reverberated in the air as Greg continued his savage onslaught, ultimately bringing the hammer down upon Skye’s forehead, repeatedly shattering her skull. In an act of shock, Greg subsequently took his own life, hanging lifelessly from the window frame.

Fast forward to 2019, where the Foo Fighters, consisting of Dave Grohl (played by Dave Grohl), Taylor Hawkins, Rami Jaffee, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett, and Pat Smear, find themselves under the relentless pressure of their manager, Jeremy Shill, who is urging them to overcome their creative block and produce a new album. Settling into a sprawling mansion that has an unsettling ambiance, Grohl quickly becomes mesmerized by the place, sensing a hidden spark of inspiration lurking within its haunted walls. However, tragedy strikes early when the band’s tech expert, Tech, meets a tragic end, electrocuted by a frayed wire, leading the group to dedicate their album to his memory.

Navigating this eerie estate, Grohl’s curiosity leads him to a concealed basement filled with dark, satanic relics. As he listens to a mysterious demo tape, he unwittingly becomes possessed by Greg Nole’s malevolent spirit, releasing a dark force that compels Grohl to insist that the band persist in creating their album. Oblivious to the sinister influence now guiding their leader, the group continues their work.

However, the chaos escalates when Darren, a delivery man who had previously attempted to deliver a demo tape to Grohl, is brutally decapitated outside the mansion by an unseen assailant wielding hedge clippers. The following day brings further horror when Chris Shiflett’s face gets stuck on a grill while cooking, only to be mercilessly attacked by the same killer. What unfolds next is utterly shocking; it becomes apparent that Grohl himself is behind the string of horrifying incidents.

When the band stumbles upon Darren’s lifeless form, Grohl manipulates them into silence about the grisly scene, confiscating their phones to tighten his grip over the group. As they sift through the mansion’s dark past, the shocking truth of Grohl’s possession unravels, thanks to Samantha, a neighbor who’s been desperate to warn them. To liberate Grohl from the grasp of Nole’s demonic force, the band must locate a powerful tome hidden deep within the mansion.

The tension heightens when Samantha and Rami Jaffee find themselves entangled in an intimate moment, only to be brutally interrupted as Grohl emerges from beneath the bed, revving a chainsaw. The couple faces a horrific end as Grohl mercilessly bisects them. Meanwhile, Taylor Hawkins is coerced into finishing his song while Nate Mendel and Pat Smear venture into the basement, seeking the crucial book. Just as Hawkins completes his composition, a cymbal slash brutally decapitates him, adding to the grim tally of the slaughter.

As Mendel and Smear struggle to free Grohl from the demonic hold, the vengeful spirits of the Dream Widow band members rally together in a bid to eradicate the malevolent force. However, Jeremy’s devious motives are laid bare when he conspires with Barb Weems, a ruthless real estate developer, to exact vengeance on the distraught Foo Fighters. Unbeknownst to Smear, who is preoccupied beneath a car, danger lurks inches away. In a sudden twist of fate, Mendel is violently attacked, his eye impaled by a sharp object, sending him into a frantic escape. In a moment of chaos, he inadvertently accelerates, sending the car crashing over Smear and crushing Barb below its weight.

In an attempt to save the wounded Barb, she seizes the opportunity to strike back, stabbing Mendel before taking her own life alongside him. Elsewhere, a humbled Grohl confronts Jeremy in a fierce contest of wills, only to be stunned by the insight that their dark endeavors have inadvertently yielded an unexpected success—the album’s skyrocketing popularity and Jeremy’s burgeoning solo career. One year later, Grohl stands alone, the sole survivor of the Foo Fighters’ apocalyptic nightmare, preparing to face the stage, his eyes betraying signs of a sinister force still lurking just beneath the surface.
