Four years into their marriage, Tanu (Kangana Ranaut) and Manu (R Madhavan) seek the help of marriage counselors, where their differences lead to comedic bickering. Frustrated by Tanu’s numerous accusations, Manu’s mental health comes into question, resulting in him being taken into custody by doctors. Back in India, Tanu’s friend Payal (Swara Bhaskar) shares the shocking news that her newborn’s father is not her husband, Jassi. Tickled by the drama, Tanu decides to return to her hometown of Kanpur.
Leaving London, Tanu contacts Manu’s friend Pappi (Deepak Dobriyal) in Delhi, asking him to fly to London to help release Manu. Upon arriving at her parents’ home in Kanpur, Tanu discovers a crafty law student named Chintu (Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub), who has taken up residence without paying rent. As Chintu befriends Tanu, he develops a crush on her, fascinated by her quirky behavior. Meanwhile, she learns that her previous flame, Raja Awasthi (Jimmy Shergill), is getting engaged to someone else.
Eventually, Pappi rescues Manu, and they fly back to India, where Manu issues Tanu a legal notice that she ignores. During a visit to Delhi University to deliver a medical speech, Manu encounters Kusum (Kangana Ranaut), a talented young athlete who bears a striking resemblance to Tanu. Intrigued by her, Manu finds himself drawn to Kusum, despite Pappi’s warnings to move on. After some initial tension, Manu opens up to Kusum about Tanu, and they begin to form a bond, with Manu even expressing his desire to marry her.
On the flip side, Chintu grows envious of Raja’s interactions with Tanu and informs her father. In an unexpected move, he even issues a divorce notice to Manu without Tanu’s knowledge, but when Manu agrees to the divorce, Tanu confronts Chintu, who admits his feelings for her. Tensions rise as Raja learns that his engagement is in jeopardy, prompting both him and Tanu to head to Delhi to confront Manu.
In a comedic turn of events, Manu, Kusum, and Pappi travel to Chandigarh to thwart a wedding involving Komal ([character not linked]), Pappi’s love interest. Confusion ensues when Kusum is mistaken for Tanu, leading to a series of karate chops and chaotic rescues. Despite the mayhem, Kusum’s family discovers her love for Manu, and in a twist of fate, agrees to their union.
As wedding preparations kick off, Tanu arrives with Raja and Jassi, creating a stir. Tanu playfully targets Kusum, who stands her ground, asserting her independence and vigor. Following a night of introspection, Tanu apologizes to Kusum, offering to lend a hand during the wedding festivities.
As the wedding day unfolds, Tanu’s inebriation leads her to dance excessively in front of Manu, who is about to marry Kusum. Under the pressure of emotions, Kusum ultimately learns of Manu’s lingering affection for Tanu and graciously steps aside, leading to a heartwarming reunion. However, the day isn’t without laughter, as tense confrontations reveal the underlying dynamics among all characters involved, including a spirited exchange between Raja and Kusum and a surprising showdown between Tanu and Chintu.
