What is the name of the religious commune led by Moses?

Plot Summary

In the heart of Miami lies the Star of Six, a small religious commune led by Moses Al Shabazz, a charismatic figure beset by poverty and plagued by mental health struggles. His wife Venus, along with followers X and Afrika, form the core of this devout community, which worships a pantheon of deities that includes Allah, “Black Santa”, and General Toussaint Louverture. Moses preaches a gospel of black liberation from the shackles of white oppression, but eschews violence in favor of peaceful resistance.

However, his unconventional methods catch the attention of Agent Kendra Glack from the FBI, who perceives him as the perfect pawn to pin revolutionary activities on. When Moses receives an eviction notice from his landlord, Kendra dispatches Reza, a pedophilic shopkeeper turned undercover agent, to present himself as a representative of a sheikh affiliated with Al-Qaeda, offering financial and military support in exchange for guns. Reza sets up a meeting between Moses and Nura, another FBI informant posing as the sheikh’s emissary, but Moses initially requests farm equipment and a horse, only to later cave to temptation and agree to accept 50 Kalashnikov rifles.

Venus is appalled by this development and abandons her family, including their daughter, citing Moses’ reckless decision-making. Moses interprets a devastating lightning strike as a divine sign, further solidifying his conviction that God is guiding him towards a higher purpose. As the day of the arms deal approaches, the FBI readies to arrest Moses for his illegal transactions, but he decides to take matters into his own hands and ride his horse to the FBI headquarters, intent on turning in the gunrunners and collecting a reward.

Before leaving, he meets with Kendra, who displays a hint of empathy for his plight but ultimately remains unmoved. When Moses returns to his commune, he finds that his followers have been evicted, prompting him to seek an unlikely solution: procuring uranium from the sheikh’s supposed associate in exchange for being allowed back onto the premises. The FBI sees this as a golden opportunity to apprehend him for attempting to acquire a nuclear device, setting the stage for a tense showdown between Moses and his adversaries.

As Moses seals a dubious deal with a group of neo-Nazis, trading uranium for a hefty sum, he cleverly substitutes the radioactive material with an unassuming alternative: a mixture of urine and beans. Unbeknownst to him, these supposed buyers are actually undercover police officers, setting in motion a chain reaction that blurs the lines between the FBI and Miami’s finest. The resulting power struggle culminates in Moses, X, Afrika, and his landlord being pursued by law enforcement during a high-stakes chase.

Meanwhile, Kendra’s efforts to maintain control of the situation are put to the test as she declares a nuclear emergency, only to be faced with the daunting task of managing the fallout. Her superior Andy’s candid suggestion that eliminating Moses would simplify matters prompts Kendra to reassess her stance. The drama unfolds at a local donut shop, where a misplaced police shot sends everyone scrambling for cover.

As chaos ensues, Reza attempts to gift Moses a phony rocket launcher, hoping to provide the FBI with an excuse to apprehend him. However, Moses cleverly assumes the role of an undercover agent and arrests Reza, who Afrika inadvertently strikes in the head with a toy crossbow. Kendra arrives on the scene, commanding Moses to stand down, but he responds by pretending to fire the launcher at her and her accompanying officers. This ill-advised move allows the FBI to apprehend him and his cohorts.

As the dust settles, Kendra offers reassurance that Moses’s daughter will be well cared for as he is led away in handcuffs. The aftermath reveals a stark contrast: all FBI personnel involved in the case are promoted, while Moses and his followers face lengthy prison sentences ranging from 20 to 35 years on plea bargains with no trial. Venus receives an additional 15-year sentence for her role in supporting a terrorist organization.
