A gifted programmer at MIT, he delves into the realm of nonlinear Cryptography, collaborating with peers to develop a groundbreaking surveillance program known as Spartacus, designed to exert control over any computer’s audiovisual hardware.

At a bustling campus fair, James and his team attract significant interest from Dell, but he remains nonchalant about their work. However, upon learning that Burke claims to have known his father for years, James is compelled to join the CIA, eager to delve deeper into the secrets surrounding his father’s disappearance. Burke, reveling in his status as a formidable judge of talent, puts James through a grueling series of tests and training at ‘The Farm,’ a covert CIA facility, where he meets fellow recruit Layla Moore. Their chemistry ignites as James competes against Zack, a fellow trainee—a rivalry that heightens the tension during their rigorous training.

During intense lectures, Burke explains the sacrifices inherent to a career with the CIA, revealing that he earns a mere $75,000 a year with no familial ties or recognition for his covert operations. Contrary to the camaraderie displayed during recruitment, Burke’s demeanor turns cold as he refuses to divulge any information about James’s father, asserting that their relationship is purely professional. As the recruits endure grueling challenges encompassing physical endurance, psychological resilience, and various spy tactics, Burke turns their training into a high-stakes game, where only one elite operative will emerge victorious as a coveted Non-official cover operative or “NOC.”

Amidst these trials, Layla strategically manipulates emotional connections to navigate her training. In one mission, James is tasked to connect with a woman at a bar who is primed for seduction. Unbeknownst to him, Layla takes on the role of the bar girl, spinning a tale of distress and emotional connection. However, her true intentions are to sabotage his mission, a twist that draws them closer together.
