Plot Summary

As Larry Wilson (no actor provided) and Richard Parker stepped into the dimly lit Manhattan morgue, the somber atmosphere was punctuated only by the faint scent of formaldehyde. Their eyes locked onto the lifeless form of Bernie Lomax, their CEO, who lay cold and still on a metal slab. In a bold move, Larry fabricated an elaborate lie, claiming Bernie as his long-lost uncle, in a desperate bid to get his hands on the late executive’s valuable possessions, including his prized credit card. With Richard’s reluctant cooperation, they managed to secure access to the insurance company, where they were grilled by their boss and Arthur Hummel, the tenacious internal investigator. The stakes were high as Larry and Richard denied any knowledge of Bernie’s alleged embezzlement of $2 million, but their boss remained skeptical, firing them on the spot and assigning Hummel to tail them for the next two weeks, with a mandate to prove their guilt.

As night fell over the city, Larry treated Richard to a lavish dinner, courtesy of Bernie’s ill-gotten gains. Over plates of exquisite cuisine, Larry revealed his discovery of a key to a safe deposit box in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and asked Richard to utilize the company computer to investigate Bernie’s financial records. Initially resistant, Richard eventually relented, yielding to Larry’s persistence.

Meanwhile, on the island of St. Thomas, a mysterious voodoo queen named Mobu was hired by ruthless mobsters to track down the stolen $2 million. Her plan involved reanimating Bernie’s corpse using ancient dark magic, and she dispatched her loyal servants, Henry and Charles, to New York. Their mission: retrieve Bernie’s lifeless form, perform the ritual, and bring him back to their mistress, who would then guide him to the pilfered fortune. However, their attempts at necromancy were plagued by a series of mishaps and misadventures.

Back in Manhattan, Henry and Charles prepared for their dark magic ceremony in a dingy adult movie theater, substituting a pigeon for the sacrificial chicken they had lost. As a result, Bernie’s reanimated corpse responded only to the sweet melodies of music. At the bustling 42nd Street–Grand Central subway station, Henry and Charles soon abandoned Bernie to pursue a thief who had stolen their prized boombox.

Later that night, Larry and Richard snuck into their office building under the cover of darkness, determined to crack open Bernie’s supposedly frozen account. However, they were met with an unexpected surprise: only Bernie’s reanimated corpse could access the account. The authorities soon arrested them for breaking and entering, but after their release, Larry and Richard hatched a plan to capture Bernie, believing him to be still lifeless. They stuffed his reanimated body into a suitcase, brought him along to the U.S. Virgin Islands, and stored him in a small refrigerator in their hotel room, unaware of the chaos that would soon ensue.

As fate would have it, Hummel is covertly trailing the trio with the sole intention of recovering the pilfered cash. Unaware of this surveillance, Larry and Richard utilize their new acquaintance Bernie to gain access to his safety deposit box, only to find a cryptic map instead of the anticipated financial windfall. Meanwhile, Larry forms an unlikely bond with the captivating Claudia, a native woman, and impulsively bestows upon her the very same map that has thus far yielded nothing but frustration.

Their camaraderie is short-lived, however, as Henry and Charles apprehend the pair and transport them to the lair of the enigmatic Mobu. With one of his henchmen menacingly trained his gun on Richard’s head, Claudia forces her captive to consume a potent potion, warning them that they must locate the map by sundown in order to procure an antidote.

The trio is subsequently reunited, only to be shocked into stunned silence upon discovering the undead Bernie moving of his own accord. This ghastly development leads them to believe that he is unwittingly guiding them towards the long-sought $2 million. In a desperate bid to keep him moving in the right direction, they affix a Walkman with headphones to his lifeless head. As Bernie makes his way to a submerged chest filled with treasure, their collective excitement proves too great, and Larry’s carelessness results in a fatal blow from a speargun, destroying the headphones.

In a frantic attempt to resuscitate their zombie friend, they endeavor to bring Bernie back to the surface, only for him to refuse to release his grip on the chest. The cumbersome weight of the treasure proves too much for them to lift, and they are eventually forced to attach Bernie to a horse-drawn carriage, accompanied by soothing music. This unorthodox approach initially bears fruit, but as they descend into the unknown, the carriage careens wildly out of control.

After a series of harrowing events, the carriage finally comes to rest at Mobu’s doorstep. A chance encounter with a towering tree branch sends Bernie spinning through the air before delivering a crushing blow that renders Mobu unconscious. The commotion also causes Bernie to release his grip on the chest, allowing it to burst open and scatter its contents across the ground. Larry attempts to gather the spoils of war, only to be apprehended by Hummel, now visibly unhinged in the presence of the reanimated Bernie.

With Mobu temporarily incapacitated, Claudia’s father, a skilled medical doctor, reveals that he possesses the knowledge necessary to cure Richard’s affliction, provided he can acquire the blood of a virgin – a task Larry hastens to complete. The authorities subsequently apprehend the mobsters and their leader, leaving the stage clear for Larry and Richard to reveal their true intentions.

In a stunning twist of events, it transpires that Bernie had actually absconded with $3 million, rather than the initially reported $2 million. Seizing this newfound knowledge, Larry and Richard decide to utilize some of the remaining funds to procure a luxurious yacht crewed by an alluring assortment of women. Meanwhile, Bernie leads Henry and Charles, now transformed into goats courtesy of voodoo magic, through a vibrant Carnival parade, bringing their peculiar journey full circle.
