This powerful documentary takes a deep dive into the 2013–2014 Maidan Uprising in Kyiv, presenting a chronological narrative that unfolds through historic footage and the heartfelt testimonies of two dozen brave protesters. The story begins with the anticipation surrounding a proposed trade agreement between the EU and Ukraine, which was expected to elevate the nation’s future. However, this promise shatters when the agreement is abruptly replaced with a deal favoring Russia.

In response, pro-European citizens come together to organize massive protests and occupations, primarily centered around Kyiv’s iconic Maidan Nezalezhnosti. As the days turn into months, the standoff escalates. The situation deteriorates into fierce barricades, violent confrontations, and harsh crackdowns, culminating in tragic instances of deadly police shootings aimed at the protesters.

“We will not be silenced,” echoes through the streets as the movement intensifies.

By February 2014, as the bloodshed reaches a horrifying peak with the killings of numerous protesters, the leaders of the uprising make a solemn vow to dismantle the government by any means necessary. Amidst these tumultuous events, Ukraine’s pro-Russia President Viktor Yanukovych decides to flee to Russia in the early hours, thus paving the way for new elections and a reimagined Ukraine with hopes set firmly on a European future.
