Plot Summary
The film intricately explores the teenage years of John Lennon, stretching from 1955 to 1960. After being separated from his mother, Julia Lennon, at the tender age of five, John is raised by his aunt and uncle, Mimi and George Smith, as if he were their own child. John’s close bond with his Uncle George is tragically severed when George passes away unexpectedly during John’s adolescence at 14. This loss ignites a curiosity in John about his mother, who has since had three daughters, one of which was given up for adoption.
During a transformative visit to Blackpool with Julia, John develops a deep passion for rock and roll music. When he is suspended from school, Julia allows him to stay with her during the daytime, shielding him from Mimi’s disapproval. However, when Mimi discovers their secretive arrangement, John asserts his desire to stay with Julia rather than return to Mimi.
