Burton Leon Reynolds Jr., known as Burt Reynolds, was a highly regarded American actor who enjoyed immense fame and success throughout the 1970s and 1980s. **Reynolds** first gained prominence for his roles in television series such as Gunsmoke, Hawk, and Dan August. His big screen breakthrough came as Lewis Medlock in the critically acclaimed film Deliverance. He followed this success with leading roles in box-office hits like White Lightning, The Longest Yard, and Smokey and the Bandit. From 1978 to 1982, Reynolds was voted the world's number one movie actor in the annual Top Ten Money-Making Stars Poll, a record he shares with Bing Crosby. Later in his career, he returned to television, starring in the sitcom Evening Shade, which won him a Golden Globe and an Emmy Award. His performance as a high-minded pornographer in Boogie Nights earned him renewed critical attention, securing him a Golden Globe Award and nominations for an Academy Award and a BAFTA Award.
