Eddie Marsan

**Eddie Marsan**, born as Edward Maurice Charles Marsan on 9th June 1968, is a renowned English actor. Hailing from a working-class family in Stepney, London, Marsan's formative years were spent in Bethnal Green, leading a life quite removed from the glitz and glamour of the world he would ultimately join. He kick-started his career in theatre after training at the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and studying under Sam Kogan at The Kogan Academy of Dramatic Arts. Marsan's journey from his first television appearance in 1992 in *The Piglet Files* to his acclaimed roles in television series like *Ray Donovan* and films like *Happy-Go-Lucky* is a testament to his acting prowess. An extraordinarily versatile actor, Marsan's roles have ranged from playing Ludwig Guttmann in the television film *The Best of Men* to the practical magician Gilbert Norrell in the BBC period drama *Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell*. He has also delved into the superhero genre with the 2008 film *Hancock* and donned the cap of Inspector Lestrade for Guy Ritchie's *Sherlock Holmes*. His filmography is dotted with successful films like *Gangs of New York, 21 Grams, The Illusionist, V for Vendetta, Gangster No. 1,* and *Miami Vice*, among others.
