Matthew Paige Damon, widely known as Matt Damon, is an eminent American actor, film producer, and screenwriter. Born on October 8, 1970, he rose to fame and recognition in the late 1990s after he co-wrote and starred in Good Will Hunting with close friend Ben Affleck. They won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award for Best Screenplay for their work. Notably, Damon has won various other awards and nominations, including an Academy Award and two Golden Globe Awards. His acting portfolio ranges from his debut in Mystic Pizza (1988) to playing renowned characters in films such as The Talented Mr. Ripley (1999), The Bourne franchise (2002–2007; 2016), and The Martian (2015), amongst others.

Damon has also dabbled in television roles and has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his performance in the HBO biopic, Behind the Candelabra (2013). In addition, he has done voice-over work in animated and documentary films and established two production companies with Affleck - Pearl Street Films and Artists Equity. Damon is renowned for his charitable work with organizations such as the One Campaign, H2O Africa Foundation, Feeding America, and Water.org. In 2013, he was awarded the Harvard Arts Medal, a testament to his stellar contribution to the arts.
