In the city of angels, Los Angeles, Dean presides over Turbo Elite Ambulance, a modest operation with two weathered vehicles and a trio of employees at his beck and call. A former firefighter himself, Dean’s family legacy is steeped in firefighting tradition, which makes his current occupation as an ambulance owner all the more poignant. The scars on his body serve as a constant reminder of the price he paid for his passion.

As Dean and Eric (played by) embark on a nighttime emergency call in their trusty vessel, Danger One, they’re met with a scene of chaos: a wounded individual, no police presence, and an agitated bystander seeking to hitch a ride. A tense standoff ensues, culminating in the unwanted passenger being allowed to join the ambulance crew – albeit under duress.

Meanwhile, Eric is about to begin another grueling night shift, leaving his loved ones, including wife Val, their newborn Nora, and sickly older son Sam, to wonder when he’ll return. As Val’s maternity leave draws to a close, she implores Eric to reevaluate his priorities, but he remains pessimistic about finding a solution.

In a separate strand of the narrative, Craddock (played by) arrives at the airport, accompanied by Rami, and is treated to a serenade of classical music. As they depart, Craddock’s keen senses detect an ominous presence tailing them, prompting him to accelerate their getaway.

Back at Turbo Elite Ambulance, Brie tends to one of the vehicles while Dean deliberates over a distant emergency call. He ultimately declines the dispatch, opting for a more pressing situation that will require Eric and his crew to respond. In a surprise move, Dean promotes Eric to a higher role within the organization, but the promotion comes with no tangible benefits.

Their next call finds them facing a high-stakes scenario: a car accident has occurred, leaving Craddock clinging to life and Rami in critical condition. As they rush to the scene, Dean’s firefighter brother, Max, is summoned to join the rescue effort, having already worked an exhausting shift.

In the aftermath of the accident, as the team tends to the victims, they stumble upon a shocking discovery: a staggering sum of money – potentially exceeding a million dollars – concealed in plastic. For Dean, this windfall represents the key to solving all their problems; however, Eric remains resolute in his refusal to get involved with the illicit funds.

As Rami succumbs to his injuries and is rushed to the hospital, Dean seizes the opportunity to divvy up the spoils among his crew. With Eric’s dissenting opinion ignored, the others insist on splitting the wealth, leading to a rift that will have far-reaching consequences. Dean hands Eric a key, hinting at a future where the lines between loyalty and self-interest will be constantly blurred.

As the dust settles on the chaotic accident scene, Craddock suddenly awakens to find himself at the mercy of the authorities. Immigration agent Beckwith briefs him on the shocking revelation that the men involved in the wreck were embroiled in a lucrative money smuggling operation he’s been tracking. The police are momentarily sidetracked, allowing Craddock to make his escape.

Meanwhile, back at the ambulance station, Dean and Max engage in a heated discussion over how to divvy up the spoils of their ill-gotten gains. Eric protests vehemently, but Max remains resolute, sharing tales from his time in Iraq to drive home the consequences of betrayal. However, as the tension mounts, Max’s words are revealed to be mere bravado, and the group’s dynamics remain precarious.

Craddock, meanwhile, has a clandestine meeting with a valet in a parking lot, claiming he’s lost his ticket and eventually strong-arming him into handing over the keys to a vehicle. As Craddock hits the road once more, he discreetly contacts Akkerman to convey the complications that have arisen.

The situation takes a deadly turn as Max is brutally murdered during a violent argument with Dean over what to do with the ill-gotten gains. Brie and Reuben, oblivious to the turmoil surrounding them, receive a distress call only to discover their ambulance has malfunctioned, forcing them to commandeering Danger One. Dean’s concerns grow as he worries about the potential consequences if Brie and Reuben stumble upon the hidden wealth.

Craddock pays a visit to Akkerman, who is incensed by his employee’s incompetence. The meeting quickly devolves into a brutal struggle, resulting in Akkerman’s untimely demise.

As Beckwith delves deeper into the mystery, he becomes aware that the individual responsible for bringing Rami to the hospital failed to bring the money with them, leading him to suspect its whereabouts remain unknown.

With Max’s body now requiring disposal, Dean concocts a plan to secretly remove it from the scene without alerting Brie and Reuben. He takes his employees into the office, where he presents Reuben with a certificate naming him employee of the month, carefully ensuring Eric remains unaware of the clandestine operation unfolding around them.

The investigation continues, with Officer Montez grappling with the realization that their meager salaries are woefully inadequate for the risks they’re taking.

As Dean and Eric transport Max’s lifeless body to its final resting place, their somber endeavor is interrupted by Beckwith, an EMT who claims they share a peculiar connection. Having brought in Rami earlier, he demands to know if they possess any knowledge about the mysterious individual. Dean vehemently denies any involvement, while Eric opens the back door of the ambulance, allowing Beckwith a fleeting glimpse into their cargo. However, before he can investigate further, Dean takes matters into his own hands and backs over Beckwith, intentionally obscuring his view. With Beckwith momentarily incapacitated, Eric drives off, leaving their would-be snooper behind. The duo then proceeds to dispose of Max’s body in a manhole cover, an arduous task that inadvertently results in Eric sustaining a minor injury.

Meanwhile, back at the ambulance station, Brie reveals her suspicions and demands to be included in the clandestine operation aimed at concealing the cash. As tensions rise, she brandishes a syringe, prepared to take drastic measures to secure her share of the loot. However, Eric has reached his breaking point and decides to take matters into his own hands. While Dean and Brie are occupied in the office, he surreptitiously sets the money ablaze, only for the others to intervene swiftly and extinguish the flames before irreparable damage is done.

Just as the situation appears to be contained, Craddock appears on the scene, claiming to be an insurance investigator. His unorthodox timing raises Dean’s suspicions, prompting him to question the authenticity of his visitor’s identity. Craddock produces a firearm, precipitating a chaotic sequence of events that culminates in the arrival of law enforcement and a hail of bullets.

As the dust settles, Dean and Eric are dispatched on another emergency call, this time responding to an incident involving Beckwith. With their paramedic skills rendered moot, they instead focus on ensuring Beckwith’s demise, which they successfully achieve. Craddock then pursues the ambulance with reckless abandon, ultimately causing a collision that leaves him mortally wounded. In his final moments, he activates the music playing in his vehicle, casting an eerie atmosphere over the unfolding chaos.

As the ordeal draws to a close, Dean confesses to Eric that he had secretly hidden the money, anticipating Brie’s potential betrayal and wishing to protect their relationship with Eric. With this revelation, Dean’s time on earth comes to a close, leaving Eric to process the aftermath of their harrowing experiences.

Returning home to his family, Eric is met with an air of uncertainty, but he offers reassurances that everything will soon return to normal.
