Formosa Betrayed weaves a gripping tale around FBI Agent Jake Kelly's (James Van Der Beek) meticulous investigation into the murder of Henry Wen (Joseph Foronda), a Taiwanese professor found lifeless in Chicago. With the able assistance of his partner, Tom Braxton (John Heard), and a perceptive Chicago police detective (Leslie Hope), Agent Kelly pieces together the puzzle of events that led to the brutal slaying.
As the investigation unfolds, it becomes apparent that the perpetrators have fled to Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, leaving behind a trail of deceit and intrigue. With this revelation, Agent Kelly is dispatched overseas to collaborate with the Taiwanese authorities in their quest to capture the killers. Initially guided by an American diplomat (Wendy Crewson) and a high-ranking Kuomintang official (Tzi Ma), he soon finds himself navigating treacherous waters, where allegiances are tested and loyalties are torn.
