Determined to make their dreams last forever, the children embark on yet another time-traveling adventure. But just as they think they have found a way, their plans are foiled, forcing them to return to the present. Here, they encounter a new challenge from Tristan Trent III, who has sinister designs on the Sand Fairy. With their combined wits, the resourceful siblings manage to outsmart the villain, ultimately trapping him on the beach with the aid of the Psammead.

As their adventures unfold, the bonds between the children deepen, transforming their initial hostility into genuine affection.
