In 1997, Lee Unwin, an aspiring secret agent, made a heart-wrenching sacrifice in the Middle East, ultimately giving his life to safeguard his superior, Harry Hart (known as Galahad). Overwhelmed with guilt and responsibility for Lee’s death, Harry returned to London, where he presented a medal to Lee’s son, Gary, engraved with an emergency assistance number. This act unknowingly set in motion a series of life-altering events that would occur seventeen years later.
Gary, affectionately nicknamed “Eggsy,” had fallen into a life of rebellion. His incredible talents and athletic skills were wasted on a lack of commitment to the Royal Marines training program. His situation worsened when he was arrested for stealing a car; however, fate intervened when he decided to call the emergency number on Lee’s medal, catching Harry’s attention and prompting an intervention that would change his life forever.
It turned out that Harry was far from an ordinary man; he was a distinguished member of the Kingsman, a secret intelligence organization formed by Britain’s elite to safeguard the world. This noble bond was established from the ashes of World War I, as the original members redirected their wealth and resources towards ensuring global stability after losing their heirs in the conflict.
As Eggsy found himself unwittingly thrust into the spotlight, Harry nominated him to take the place of agent Lancelot. That agent had tragically perished at the hands of the assassin Gazelle while attempting to rescue a radical climate scientist, Prof. James Arnold. The Kingsman’s technical operations expert, Merlin, uncovered that Arnold was still alive amidst the unfolding crisis.
However, as the investigation progressed, tragedy struck when Arnold’s neck-implanted microchip detonated, leaving Harry in a coma and resulting in his own death. This calamitous event could be traced back to the plot orchestrated by Gazelle’s employer, Richmond Valentine, a billionaire philanthropist who sought to provide the world with free internet and cellular access through a revolutionary new SIM card.
While Harry was recovering under a new identity as a philanthropist, he sought a meeting with Valentine. Simultaneously, Eggsy’s journey continued as he grew closer to his fellow Kingsman trainee, Roxy, while enduring the rigorous tests posed by Merlin that ultimately proved his worth. Yet, when faced with his final trial, which involved caring for a puppy, Eggsy made the surprising decision to refuse, leading to Roxy being designated the new Lancelot.
In the course of Harry’s investigation into Valentine’s disturbing ties to a radical religious group, he found himself at their church in Kentucky, sporting glasses equipped with a video transceiver. Eggsy watched in horror as Valentine activated the SIM cards within the church, unleashing a wave of violent chaos that left Harry fighting for survival. Ultimately, in a shocking twist, Valentine shot Harry, rendering him apparently lifeless.
Upon returning to the Kingsman headquarters, Eggsy couldn’t shake the unsettling resemblance between Chester King, whose codename was “Arthur” and he was the organization’s leader, and Arnold. Their shared distinctive scar on the neck hinted at a far more insidious connection, revealing a sinister implantation procedure. Chester disclosed Valentine’s villainous plan to unleash a globally-inducing violent signal that would eliminate much of humanity to protect his own elite from extinction due to climate change. He had already manipulated numerous world leaders and wealthy individuals, implanting chips in them, while those who resisted were captured in his heavily fortified bunker, including Crown Princess Tilde of Sweden.
The situation took a dramatic turn when Chester attempted to poison Eggsy’s drink but was outsmarted when Eggsy cleverly switched glasses, leading to Chester poisoning himself. As King succumbed to the toxin, Eggsy seized the crucial chip from his neck, setting the stage for the conflict against Valentine.
With Eggsy, Merlin, and Roxy poised for action, they targeted Valentine’s bunker, where several of his conspirators were assembled. Roxy utilized her skills to send up high-altitude balloons, affecting Valentine’s satellite network—though the victory was short-lived as Valentine managed to secure an alternative system. Merlin took to the skies again, this time directly targeting the bunker, while Eggsy temporarily assumed Chester’s identity. However, his cover quickly crumbled when he was revealed by Charlie Hesketh, a failed Kingsman recruit.
In a final push, when cornered by Valentine’s minions, Merlin activated the implanted chips’ failsafe. This triggered a horrific chain reaction leading to the explosive demise of the guards and conspirators around the globe. As worldwide pandemonium erupted from Valentine’s signal, Eggsy rose to the occasion, defeating Gazelle and impaling Valentine with her own sharpened prosthetic blade, thus ceasing the catastrophic signal.
With the chaos abated, Eggsy stepped into his new role as the “Galahad,” eager to embrace his new identity while grappling with personal struggles. With his mother and baby half-sister by his side, Eggsy offered them a chance at a new life, preparing to confront his stepfather and old gang – mirroring Harry’s journey, yet with far greater stakes than ever before.
