Who mistakenly calls Count Dracula at the beginning of the film?

Plot Summary

In the mist-shrouded landscape of Transylvania, Count Dracula (Count Dracula) paces restlessly among his winged entourage, lamenting the crushing loneliness that has beset him. The sudden ringing of his phone interrupts this melancholy reverie, and he answers to find himself on the receiving end of a mistaken call from Emma Wishbone (), who is desperate for guidance in matters both mundane and supernatural. As their conversation falters, Emma’s cell phone slips from her grasp and vanishes down a storm drain, leaving only the echoes of her troubles behind.

Emma’s world is rapidly unraveling: her family bookstore teeters on the brink of financial ruin, her son Max () is tormented by the cruel whims of his peers, her daughter Fay () has succumbed to the siren song of narcissism, and her husband Frank () is a shadow of his former self, exhausted and neglectful. Amidst this chaos, Dracula sees an opportunity to reshape Emma’s fate, convincing the enigmatic Baba Yaga to bestow upon her the curse of immortality.

As Emma’s new-age friend Cheyenne presents her with tickets to a masquerade ball, Emma seizes the chance to craft costumes for her family: herself as a vampire, Frank as the behemoth Frankenstein’s monster, Fay as an ancient mummy, and Max as a lupine werewolf. However, their evening takes a turn for the worse when a mix-up at the party sees them escorted out by security, leaving Emma reeling in despair.

Baba Yaga seizes this moment of vulnerability to unleash her dark magic upon Emma, but her family’s unhappiness proves a potent counterbalance, and they are all transformed into the very monsters they had donned as costumes. As chaos erupts, Emma chases Baba Yaga through the streets, eventually learning that the enigmatic sorceress’s amulet requires recharging at the London Eye – a location imbued with ancient power.

Meanwhile, Max finds joy in his newfound monstrous persona, exploiting his bullies to great effect, while Fay is rejected by her school crush and Frank has lost his intellectual bearings, though he remains devoted to Emma. The family’s plight reaches a crescendo as they converge on the airport, where Fay hypnotizes a check-in clerk to secure passage.

As the flight takes off, Emma finds herself overwhelmed by the primal allure of vampiric bloodlust, but Dracula intervenes just in time to stem this tide of violence and absconds with her aboard his personal jet, leaving her family behind. The Count’s intentions are clear: he will stop at nothing to claim Emma as his own.

As the plane disappears into the horizon, Emma’s resolve is tested when Dracula attempts to persuade her to remain by his side. Though tempted, she ultimately chooses loyalty over desire, precipitating Dracula’s decision to eject her from his aircraft. Emma lands with a thud beside the London Eye, only moments before her family arrives.

Unfazed by this rejection, Dracula sets his sights on global destruction, instructing his hunchbacked servant Renfield to prepare an arsenal of snowflake machines, hell-bent on unleashing chaos upon the world.

As Baba Yaga (Baba Yaga) charges her amulet, she’s abruptly interrupted by the Wishbones, but she swiftly dispatches them to Egypt. Cheyenne (Cheyenne) attempts to lend a hand, only to find herself becoming fast friends with the witch after rescuing her from a potentially fatal fall. Baba Yaga subsequently reveals that Dracula’s original intention was for her to curse Emma alone, but the family’s collective unhappiness has inadvertently altered them all - it’s only when they’re all simultaneously happy that the curse will be broken.

Meanwhile, in Egypt, the family’s discord reaches new heights, culminating in each member going their separate ways. Fay (Fay) encounters Imhotep, who’s besotted with her beauty and seeks to join forces with her to conquer the world. Max (Max) stumbles upon a hotel where all the guests are terrified of him, while Frank (Frank) rescues a group of supermodels who invite him back to their hotel - coincidentally, it’s the same one Max has discovered.

Emma finds herself once again consumed by bloodlust, only to be rescued yet again by Dracula. Despite her lingering attraction to him, she still longs for her family, who eventually appear in his castle after a repentant Baba Yaga transports them there. Renfield (Renfield) explains Dracula’s plan to launch a giant snowball at the Sun, wiping out all life on Earth except for vampires, who don’t require sunlight to survive. As Dracula indulges in his Lazarus pool, ensuring his eternal youth, the family concocts a scheme to add holy water to it, thereby killing him. However, he overpowers them.

Realizing they need to work together and that their happiness is what’s ultimately breaking the curse, the family turns back into humans. With Renfield and the servant bats’ assistance, they trap Dracula between beams of sunlight and subsequently freeze him using his own snowflake weapon.

Upon returning home, the Wishbones find their circumstances have dramatically shifted. Frank finds the courage to stand up for himself at work after displaying a photo of their family’s adventure and the frozen Dracula on his desk. Max’s former bully has undergone a change of heart and now befriends him, while Fay meets a charming nerd in a knight’s costume at Emma’s home-hosted costume party. Baba Yaga, Renfield, and the three bats crash the festivities, whereupon the family takes another photo together, capturing their collective joy.
