As Boni (Grégoire Colin) navigates the complex emotions following his mother's passing, he finds solace in the mundane routine of running a pizza business from her house. Yet, his subconscious is occupied by vivid and intense daydreams about a nearby baker (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), whose enigmatic presence only adds to his inner turmoil. The arrival of his estranged younger sister Nénette (Alice Houri) brings both chaos and clarity to Boni's life. Nénette, expecting a child and defying her brother's wishes, moves into the house and slowly reveals the gravity of her situation.

As Boni reluctantly accompanies Nénette to doctor's appointments, they're met with crushing news: it's too late for an abortion. Initially resistant to his new role as uncle, Boni begins to soften in the face of Nénette's determination. However, when she expresses a desire for anonymity and adoption through a Jane Doe birth, Boni's response is dismissive and hurtful. This sparks a crisis in Nénette, who attempts a self-induced abortion at home, only to pass out and require her brother's rescue.

In the aftermath of this traumatic event, Nénette bars Boni from her child's birth, but he returns later, armed with a firearm, and seizes his nephew, determined to take on the responsibility of caring for him. This dramatic turn signals a profound shift in Boni's perspective, as he's forced to confront the consequences of his actions and the fragility of life.
