As Captain Brodie Torrance (Gerard Butler) arrives in Singapore, he eagerly anticipates reuniting with his daughter, Daniela (Haleigh Hekking), in Honolulu during his holiday. Assigned to pilot Trailblazer Airlines Flight 119 alongside co-pilot Samuel Dele (Yoson An), Brodie’s routine trip takes a chaotic turn when chief flight attendant Bonnie (Daniella Pineda) interrupts his pre-flight preparations to inform him that Officer Shellback (Remi Adeleke) needs to see him about a passenger, Louis Gasparre (Mike Colter), a former French Foreign Legion soldier notorious for his violent history.

As the aircraft ascends into the stormy skies above the South China Sea, a series of turbulence shakes the plane, culminating in a tragedy that leads to the death of one of the stewardesses, alongside Shellback. With their communication and radar systems down, Brodie and Dele find themselves relying solely on their piloting expertise to stabilize the aircraft. They ultimately decide on a harrowing emergency landing on the isolated Jolo island, where they face a grim reality.

Amidst this turmoil, Brodie works tirelessly to evacuate the passengers while keeping a watchful eye on Louis, whose violent past looms large over their safety. Back in New York City, the Trailblazer board of directors, led by crisis manager Scarsdale (Tony Goldwyn), convenes an emergency meeting to locate the missing plane, unaware that Brodie and his crew are grappling with the threat of violent separatists who inhabit the island.

Brodie, with Dele’s warning that staying longer poses increased risks, realizes he must act quickly not only to secure a path off the island but also to reconnect with his daughter. As the storm rages on, the locals observe the chaotic developments with intense anticipation. Meanwhile, Datu Junmar ([Evan Dane Taylor]) and his band of rebels plot to exploit the downed plane’s passengers, unaware that Brodie and Louis are actively working to establish communication with the outside world.

In New York, Daniela receives the heartbreaking news about her father’s flight going down, while Brodie perseveres, establishing contact with a skeptical agent at Trailblazer’s office and managing to reach out to Daniela before facing a brutal attack from one of Junmar’s henchmen. As they delve deeper into the jungle, Brodie and Louis uncover evidence of the rebels’ horrific crimes, which fuels their determination to rescue the captives.

As Junmar and his crew drag the hostages from the wreckage, a military operation begins to unfold, aiming to locate the downed plane. Unbeknownst to the rescuers, Brodie and Louis have been stealthily navigating the treacherous landscape, liberating captives from the rebels. Just when Brodie thinks all is lost, the military forces arrive, providing a much-needed intervention as gunfire sends Junmar’s men scattering, leaving the rebel leader fueled by vengeance after losing his brother in the fray.

Amid rising tensions, the survivors debate whether Brodie should pilot the aircraft once more, while Louis decides to stay back with the military team and the remnants of the rebel stash. Brodie and Dele work diligently to revive the battered plane, all while Junmar makes a desperate last-ditch effort to thwart their escape but ultimately fails when Brodie maneuvers the plane just in time.

With the threat eliminated and a nearby airstrip in sight, Brodie successfully guides the aircraft to a safe landing, earning applause from Trailblazer HQ. As he finally prepares to reconnect with Daniela, Brodie assures her that he is on his way home, ready to embrace a new chapter after overcoming such tremendous challenges.
