Check out what happened in The Mandela Effect!

In the aftermath of their daughter Sam's tragic drowning, computer game designer Brendan and his wife Claire are struggling to come to terms with their loss. Amidst the grief, Brendan stumbles upon a copy of The Berenstain Bears, which sparks a peculiar memory - one that he and his brother-in-law Matt share, but can't quite explain. As they delve deeper into this anomaly, they uncover a phenomenon known as the Mandela Effect, where collective memories are at odds with reality.

Brendan becomes obsessed with the idea that these discrepancies are not just mere hallucinations, but rather evidence of the existence of parallel universes. Convinced that Sam is still alive in one of them, he sets out to find Dr. Roland Fuchs, a scientist who has been ostracized for his similar theories. Fuchs reveals that the universe is, in fact, a complex simulation, and the Mandela Effect is a result of reality being rewritten to prevent its inhabitants from uncovering the truth.

As Brendan's quest for answers takes a toll on his marriage and daily life, he begins to experience visions of Sam, which are initially invisible to others. However, when she suddenly reappears in front of them, everyone can see her. The family is left stunned and disoriented by this sudden turn of events.

Brendan's desperation to communicate with Fuchs leads him to a devastating discovery - the scientist had taken his own life two months prior. This revelation only serves to further underscore the simulation's attempts to thwart their plans. With a newfound sense of urgency, Brendan rushes to complete a special computer program, which he hopes will disrupt the simulation and free them from its constraints.

Breaking into Dr. Fuchs' old campus, Brendan runs the program on a quantum computer, unleashing a series of glitches that destabilize reality. As the world around him begins to unravel, he makes his way back home, where he finds his family waiting anxiously. In a moment of desperate hope, they cling to each other as the simulation crashes.

In the aftermath of the crash, the universe restarts, recreating its history from scratch. The family is once again shown at the beach, but this time, Brendan asks Sam to leave her Curious George doll behind before she ventures into the water. This small act of caution saves Sam's life and allows the simulation to continue, perpetuating a cycle that will forever be marked by the curious phenomenon known as the Mandela Effect.
