Aman, played by Ali Zafar, is a young man navigating the complexities of love and cultural differences in London. He dreams of marrying Asha, portrayed by Yami Gautam, but his plans quickly spiral into chaos when he visits her family to ask for their blessing. The comedic adventure unfolds as Amman’s Pakistani background raises eyebrows, leading to a cascade of unfortunate events.

Asha’s family consists of her father, Anupam Kher, her mother [Kiron Kher], her sister Jia, who is grappling with her own marital issues, her brother Manav, and a grandfather who has a history of conflict with Pakistanis due to the 1971 war.

The situation escalates hilariously when Asha’s mother becomes distraught upon discovering Aman’s heritage, prompting her to have a private conversation with Asha while asking Aman to defrost the soup. What should have been a simple task quickly turns disastrous; the soup bowl slips from Aman’s hands, flying out the kitchen window and striking an unsuspecting pedestrian below. In a feverish attempt to retrieve the bowl, Aman inadvertently gives Asha’s family the impression that he’s fled the scene. Meanwhile, Asha desperately races after Aman, cautioning him not to mention the unconscious man outside.

Amid the chaos, Asha’s mother is on edge, further compounded by Jia’s remark about their father possibly having an affair, and the tension between the siblings grows. Jia’s estranged husband, seeking to win her back, adds to the family’s turmoil with his cheap antics.

As the story twists and turns through Aman’s perspective, he begins to suspect he might have harmed Asha’s father in the soup incident. His attempts to confirm this lead to a comical showdown when Asha’s grandfather interrupts him in the bathroom, resulting in a misunderstanding that only fuels Asha’s mother’s disapproval.

The narrative thickens when Asha’s father leaves the house, with her mother believing he is off for an illicit rendezvous. In a stroke of irony, he ends up in a strip club after wandering off, causing even more confusion when his family arrives at his office only to find he has left. This misunderstanding escalates into a wild chain of events with Aman’s friends, neighborhood tensions, and even a bumbling British policeman trying to interject with his misguided assumptions.

All the threads come together when Asha’s family experiences some eye-opening moments that lead to reconciliations. As they return home to confront the chaos and each other, they come to terms with their misunderstandings and ultimately, Asha and Aman find their way back to each other, humorously navigating love across cultural divides. The film is a heartwarming journey through chaos and cultural clashing, illustrating the enduring power of love amidst life’s absurdities.
