Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins CBE (born 31 December 1937) is a Welsh actor, director and producer. He received multiple accolades, including two Academy Awards, four BAFTA Awards, two Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Laurence Olivier Award for his performances on the screen and stage. Hopkins was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to drama in 1993. With his graduation from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama in 1957, his training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London and subsequent invitation by Laurence Olivier to join the Royal National Theatre in 1965, he earned a well-deserved reputation as one of Britain's most recognisable and prolific actors. His film and television career is remarkable with a repertoire spanning several decades, with noteworthy roles including his performance in The Lion in Winter (1968), A Bridge Too Far (1977), The Elephant Man (1980), The Silence of the Lambs (1991), The Remains of the Day (1993) and Westworld (2016–2018), among others.

In addition to performing, Hopkins is also an accomplished composer and painter. Despite his demanding acting career, he has also found time to give back to his community, supporting various philanthropic groups, volunteering as a teacher and contributing towards several conservation and preservation initiatives. Despite his imposing on-screen presence, Hopkins is known for his quiet, understated approach to acting, favouring minimal rehearsals and preferring to let his performances evolve naturally, a truly unique acting style that has made him beloved by audiences and critics alike.
