Check out what happened in Army of Darkness!

As Ash Williams (Ash Williams) finds himself inexplicably transported back in time to the Middle Ages, he's promptly apprehended by Lord Arthur's men, who suspect him of being a spy for Duke Henry - a notion that sets off a chain reaction of events. Initially enslaved alongside Henry and stripped of his trusty shotgun and chainsaw, Ash is taken to Arthur's stronghold where he faces an uncertain fate. However, after demonstrating his formidable skills by dispatching a Deadite in the castle's pit and reclaiming his prized weapons from the Wise Man, Ash earns the adoration of those around him. His growing infatuation with Sheila, the sister of one of Arthur's fallen knights, adds a personal dimension to his quest.

The Wise Man's cryptic prophecy sets Ash on a perilous journey to uncover the secrets of the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis, the only known means of returning to his own time. As he delves deeper into the mystical realm, Ash encounters a haunted forest that seems to have a life of its own, leading him to a foreboding windmill where an unseen force propels him towards a mirror-shattered fate. The fragments of his reflection come to life, tormenting him with their very presence - one fragment even morphs into a full-sized doppelganger that Ash brutally dismembers and buries.

When he finally arrives at the fabled Necronomicon's resting place, Ash is confronted by an unexpected trio of ancient tomes. With no clear way to distinguish between fact and fiction, he must rely on his wits to determine which book holds the key to his return. In a desperate bid to retrieve the correct tome, Ash stumbles upon the phrase "Klaatu barada nikto" - the password required for safe removal - just as time is running out. Seizing the book, he begins his hasty retreat, unaware that his ruse has been foiled and his duplicate is rising from the grave, rallying an army of Deadites.

Upon his return, Ash demands to be transported back to his own era, but Sheila's abduction by a flying Deadite and subsequent transformation into one of the undead serves as a catalyst for Ash's determination. With the people reluctant to stand against the Army of Darkness, Ash musters the courage to lead the human resistance against overwhelming odds. Enlisting Duke Henry's expertise and drawing inspiration from his 1973 Oldsmobile Delta 88 textbooks, Ash orchestrates a victorious battle against the Deadites, destroys "Evil Ash", rescues Sheila, and brokers peace between Arthur and Henry. Finally, with the Wise Man's guidance, Ash is able to harness the power of the Necronomicon to return to his own time, reciting the fateful phrase once more as he disappears into the present.

As Ash recounts his harrowing tale of demon-slaying to a sympathetic coworker at S-Mart, the department store's mundane atmosphere is suddenly shattered by an unexpected intrusion. A lingering Deadite, drawn to Ash's forgetfulness, materializes amidst the oblivious customers. With calculated precision, Ash dispatches the creature using a trusty Winchester rifle, and in triumph, he exclaims, "Hail to the king, baby," before sealing his passion with a fervent kiss on the lips of his enthralled co-worker.

Meanwhile, the Wise Man's cryptic counsel from the Necronomicon serves as Ash's guide for returning to his own time. However, the protagonist's concentration is momentarily disrupted by the chaotic descent of rocks, leading to an error in his potion dosage. In a reckless misstep, Ash consumes seven drops instead of the prescribed six, and his fate is sealed.

As he awakens from his dimensional leap, Ash finds himself in a desolate, post-apocalyptic London, where the ruins of human civilization stretch as far as the eye can see. His initial elation at finally returning to his own time quickly turns to despair as he comprehends the catastrophic consequences of his mistake. With a pained cry, Ash lament's his failure to accurately return to his original timeline, leaving him lost and disoriented in this bleak new world.
