A German widow, Nadja, along with her son Elias, are set to board a plane bound for New York City. Nadja, seemingly suffering from leukemia, hopes to see a doctor who can provide her with life-saving treatment. At the airport, Elias befriends a man named Farid, while Nadja faces severe discomfort due to her medication.
As night falls, a group of hijackers, led by the ruthless Berg and including the co-pilot Bastian, covertly murders the air marshals on the flight. They sabotage the black box, eliminating any chance of the plane being tracked. Berg declares total control over the aircraft, demanding a ransom. In the ensuing chaos, Elias attempts to hide, but Nadja follows him. The sociopathic hijacker Eightball spots them and shoots Nadja multiple times. Believing her dead, the hijackers move on to stage two of their malevolent plan, coercing Farid into recording a statement that claims the plane is taken hostage for a suicide mission, knowing it will lead to a military shoot-down.
However, Nadja awakens and recalls the devastating day her husband, [Nikolai], was slain. Stranded with a broken vehicle during a family trip, he sought help from a nearby farmhouse but never returned. When Nadja goes to find him, she is attacked by his murderer—a vampire—who bites her before being incinerated at sunrise. This moment marks Nadja’s transformation into a vampire, leading her back to the farmhouse for answers. There, she encounters an elderly vampire intent on vengeance but ultimately overcomes him and escapes with vials of a vampire suppressant, effectively torching the farmhouse in her wake.
In a desperate bid for survival aboard the plane, Nadja accesses the cargo hold, shedding the contacts and dentures that disguise her vampiric features. She kills and feeds on a dog, but a hijacker catches her in the act. In her newfound ferocity, she kills him and drinks his blood, fully sealing her fate as a vampire. Alongside Farid, they gain the upper hand to retake control of the flight just as the hijackers prepare to escape by parachute. Nadja surprises Berg, bites him, and swiftly stabs him before he can complete his transformation.
Realizing they are up against a formidable foe, the hijackers command Eightball to dispatch Nadja. He temporarily incapacitates her using UV light and extracts her blood, preparing to end her life. However, Elias confronts him, inadvertently leading to a chaotic depressurization of the plane. Although the hijackers regain cockpit control and restore pressure, Eightball retreats to the cargo hold, where he injects himself with Nadja’s blood. An attempt to incinerate him fails, and soon after, he transforms into a vampiric version of himself and massacres the remaining hijackers, except for Bastian.
With heightened tensions, Bastian warns Nadja that time is running out due to low fuel levels. In a shocking twist, a dying passenger releases Eightball, who then turns most of the remaining passengers into vampires. In a desperate act of heroism, Nadja decides to use explosives to destroy the hijackers. As she moves to execute her plan, Elias intervenes, but in the ensuing chaos, he ends up with the detonator while surrounded by vampires. Nadja, compelled to protect her son, implores Farid to look after him before she feasts on Bastian. In a heart-wrenching moment, she is attacked and drained of blood by Eightball, but just as he aims for Elias, Farid steers the plane into the sun, incinerating Eightball.
Elias uses his own blood in a futile attempt to save Nadja, who instinctively flees, aware that her longing for his blood renders him vulnerable. The plane ultimately lands at an RAF base in Scotland, where the authorities disregard Elias and Farid’s pleas for survival, leading to further chaos. Elias escapes from an ambulance, returning in search of his mother, only to witness her devouring a soldier. When he calls out to her, she only responds with a menacing growl, advancing toward him as a beast. Understanding that the woman he loved is lost forever, Elias activates the detonator, killing Nadja and the remaining vampires in a tragic hero’s sacrifice. Farid, now released from custody, embraces Elias as the camera pans away, capturing the profound gravity of their ordeal.
