The film unfolds with The Butcher, a character from Noé’s prior film I Stand Alone, as he reflects on the events that landed him in his modest apartment. His grim narration starkly contrasts with the lively sounds from a nearby gay BDSM establishment known as The Rectum.

In a later scene, we witness Alex and Marcus, embracing intimately, their nudity symbolizing their deep connection. During their conversation about their relationship and an upcoming event, it becomes evident that Alex’s split from Pierre stemmed from her yearning for a more passionate connection, one that Pierre was incapable of providing. This realization is accentuated when Alex describes a vivid dream of a crimson tunnel splitting into two, a surreal foreshadowing of her impending motherhood revealed by a quick pregnancy test.

On a packed train, tensions flare as Pierre and Alex argue over his inadequacies as a partner. Meanwhile, Marcus, preferring to distance himself from their quarrel, observes the unfolding drama. Later that night at a party, matters escalate when Marcus, under the influence of alcohol and cocaine, prompts Alex to leave in distress. As she rushes away from the chaos, she encounters a horrifying scene in a dimly-lit underpass where a transgender sex worker is being brutally attacked. The assault quickly turns on Alex, who endures a harrowing experience of violence and is left unconscious.

As paramedics take Alex away, Pierre and Marcus find themselves confronted by two dubious street characters, Mourad and Layde, who offer their assistance in seeking revenge. They discover a vital lead - an abandoned ID belonging to the assaulted prostitute named Concha. In a fit of fury, Marcus aggressively interrogates this unfortunate individual, demanding information about the rapist and where he might be found. They are informed that the culprit, known as Le Tenia, often visits The Rectum, prompting the duo to embark on a mission to locate him.

Their pursuit through the city proves treacherous, as they face uncooperative cab drivers and hostile street residents. In a moment of frustration, Marcus hijacks a taxi, with Pierre reluctantly following. Their journey leads them to The Rectum, where Marcus’s instincts drive him to confront a possible perpetrator, only to be violently attacked, leaving him severely injured.

Fortunately, Pierre arrives just in time to intervene, using a fire extinguisher to deliver a brutal strike that ultimately takes the assailant’s life. With Pierre taken into custody by the authorities, Marcus is transported away on a stretcher, leaving his struggle far from over.

In the closing scene, Alex is seen quietly contemplating in a park, lost in her thoughts. Suddenly, the screen flashes with strobe lights, unveiling the message “Time destroys everything” (French: “Le temps detruit tout”). However, in the Straight Cut version, this phrase shifts to “Time reveals everything” (French: “Le temps revele tout”), provoking audiences to reflect on the complexities of justice and the relentless passage of time.
