What is the name of the Duke family's iconic vehicle?

Plot Summary

In the heart of Hazzard County, Georgia, the Duke family’s moonshine operation is run with finesse by cousins Bo (actor name), Luke, and Daisy. Their trusty vehicle, a bright orange 1969 Dodge Charger nicknamed “General Lee”, serves as their primary mode of transportation and a symbol of their carefree spirit. However, their lives are constantly disrupted by the corrupt Hazzard County Commissioner Jefferson Davis Hogg, affectionately known as “Boss Hogg”, and his bumbling accomplice, Sheriff Rosco P. Coltrane.

After Bo and Luke’s attempt to outrun Billy Prickett’s daughter goes awry, leaving the General Lee vandalized, a new challenger enters the fray: Billy Prickett, a renowned stock-car driver, comes to Hazzard County to participate in the rally. Meanwhile, Rosco takes advantage of Uncle Jesse’s misfortune and confiscates their farm under the guise of eminent domain for Boss Hogg’s interests, forcing the Dukes to seek temporary refuge with their neighbor, Pauline.

As they try to make sense of the sudden turn of events, Bo and Luke stumble upon a local construction site and uncover a map marking their farm and neighboring properties. They also discover a safe that they believe contains secrets Boss Hogg wants to keep hidden, but their attempts to open it are foiled. Instead, they enlist the help of Sheev’s, who helps them blast open the safe and reveal its contents: geologic core samples. While unsure of their significance, the Dukes’ curiosity is piqued.

In a separate development, Cooter Davenport, the Duke boys’ trusted mechanic, takes it upon himself to transform the General Lee into a high-performance hot rod in hopes of finally receiving compensation for his past services if they emerge victorious in the upcoming rally. Little does he know that the stakes are about to get much higher.

As the Dukes head to Atlanta to consult with geology experts at the local university, they cross paths with Katie-Lynn Johnson, a Hazzard County native. There, they uncover Boss Hogg’s sinister plan to turn their county into a strip coal mine. However, before they can return home and rally support against this proposal, they find themselves behind bars.

Boss Hogg pays them a visit in their prison cell, revealing that the vote on his proposition coincides with the rally, with Billy Prickett providing a diversion. Meanwhile, Daisy concocts a plan to help her brothers escape during a transfer from custody. The Dukes make a daring getaway, evading the Atlanta Police and Georgia State Patrol as they speed back home to warn their fellow townsfolk about the impending threat to their way of life.

As the Duke brothers return to their humble abode, they’re met with a shocking sight: Boss Hogg and Rosco P. Coltrane have taken Uncle Jesse and Pauline hostage, effectively holding them captive. The brothers spring into action, racing to the farmhouse to create a diversion that will draw the attention of the waiting law enforcement officials from Hazzard County and the Georgia State Police. Meanwhile, Daisy Duke and Cooter concoct a plan to rescue Jesse and Pauline, employing their quick thinking and resourcefulness to outmaneuver their captors.

In a separate yet equally crucial development, the college girls, along with Sheev, head to the town rally to spread the word about the impending vote on the strip-mining ordinance. However, due to Sheev’s reputation as a conspiracy theorist, the townsfolk are skeptical of their claims and refuse to listen. Undeterred, Bo Duke leaves for the rally, determined to make his voice heard. Back at the farmhouse, Luke and Jesse join forces to thwart the efforts of the county and state police, engaging in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse.

As the stakes reach a fever pitch, the brothers take their racing skills to new heights, crossing the finish line first and then leading the townsfolk on a wild goose chase across town. Their ultimate destination is the courthouse, where they successfully rally support for the proposal’s rejection. Boss Hogg, however, attempts to have the boys locked up once again, but Daisy seizes the opportunity presented by the governor of Georgia’s visit and TV cameras to plead their case, ultimately convincing him to grant them a pardon.

As the dust settles, the Dukes and their friends gather for a celebratory cook-out at the farmhouse, marking a triumphant conclusion to their adventure.
