As the tempestuous night wears on, a cargo ship becomes the unwitting target of ruthless criminals, only for the very fabric of justice to be reasserted by Arthur Curry/Aquaman (Jason Momoa), who emerges from the turbulent depths riding his majestic seahorse, Storm. As he effortlessly dispatches the would-be thieves, his voiceover narrates the tumultuous journey that has led him to this moment, including his victory over his treacherous brother Orm/Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson) and his subsequent ascension to the throne of Atlantis. His quest takes him underwater, where he discovers the Black Trident and is drawn into a mystical vision featuring Kordax (Pilou Asbæk), a malevolent king who offers to aid David in his vendetta against Aquaman if he agrees to release him from his icy prison.

Five months later, as temperatures around the globe begin their alarming ascent, Mera brings Arthur before the Council of Atlantis, presided over by Karshon (Indya Moore), to deliberate on this existential threat. However, Arthur’s suggestion that it is time for Atlantis to reveal itself to the surface world is met with fierce opposition from his advisors. Seeking solace in a beer with his father, Thomas (Temuera Morrison), Arthur laments the weight of his royal responsibilities and the dissonance that exists between him and those around him.

As David’s relentless pursuit of Orichalcum drives him to assault Atlantis, Atlanna and Mera spring into action to defend their kingdom against the formidable Black Manta. Arthur’s stealthy infiltration of the Fisherman Kingdom prison, aided by his trusty cephalopod companion Topo, yields a tense confrontation with Orm’s cruel captors. According to Orm’s account, King Atlan’s brother, Kordax, sought to usurp control over Atlantis by creating the cursed trident, ultimately corrupting himself and his subjects into monstrous entities. To free Kordax from this malevolent curse, a descendant of Atlan must offer their blood as a sacrifice – leaving Arthur as a potential target for Manta’s machinations.

As Manta (true to form) descends upon Amnesty Bay, he orchestrates a brutal attack on Thomas, kidnapping Junior in the process and reducing Arthur’s home to ashes. The desperate father, Arthur, turns to Atlanna for aid in tending to his wounded patriarch. Meanwhile, Shin seizes the opportunity to send out a distress signal to the Atlanteans, mobilizing their forces to track down the villains. Arthur joins Mera, Orm, Nereus, and the wise-cracking Brine King (John Rhys-Davies) in a quest to apprehend Manta.

David and Stingray stumble upon Necrus, who prepares Junior for a perilous journey to Kordax’s throne. But Arthur summons an ancient alliance with the creatures of the deep, unleashing a tidal wave of chaos that cripples the villains’ stronghold, claiming Stingray and his goons as casualties. Just as Manta is poised to exploit Junior’s blood, Shin intervenes, replacing it with a bomb-laden package, whisking Junior to safety while Manta is left stunned.
